The most effective way is cold turkey. It's hard, so don't be hard on yourself if you keep putting it off. But you'll live longer if you go ahead and do it.

no matter what anybody else tells you, only you can make you quit smoking, and cold turkey really is the best way to do it. that being said, try making a change in your lifestyle. for example, if you usually have a cig between classes at school do something else with that time instead of going to hang out with all the other smokers. it doesn't have to be like this forever, but if you remove the cues that make you smoke it sure helps at first. I also recommend getting a book and/or taking some classes in yoga. it's very good for every aspect of your life, but I think the attention it will bring to your breathing will help you to keep your cool without feeling like you need the crutch of a cigarette. and in general, next time you want a cig, just spend 5 or 10 minutes relaxing and breathing deeply. get some fresh air.
I hope you are able to stop as soon as possible. cigarettes are a terrible addiction that you do not want to be dealing with for the rest of your life. the sooner you stop, the better. the good news is that when you stop, a lot of things in your life get better; like your health and your pocketbook, to start with.

When I was 14 I smoked for 2 years I picked up the habit by a couple of friends that I played with they didn't pressure me or anything. They all moved away and I had no one to to splits on cigs so I decided to quit because I couldn't afford it on my own. The first two weeks was the hardest then it got better and I could breath again. If you find it hard now imagine how much harder it will be later and your not going to breath very well, you'll feel later.
Cold turkey is the only way.

Your body may be addicted because smoking is one way to control blood sugar. Get to a doctor, and get tested for hyperinsulinemia (high insulin). If you test high (10 or more for an adult), then controlling the hyperinsulinemia by diet may reduce your body's need for cigarettes to control the blood sugar, making it easier to quit.

Check out other Yahoo!Answers. There are some tips there on what others have done to quit.

Best wishes.

I understand completely what you're asking. It is possible to quit quitting, but it's a lot harder that quitting going to the gym. You need a source of motivation and inspiration. Make some goals. Than reward yourself. Good luck =)

Well, try to minimize the amount of cigs that you smoke a day. But the best way to do it is to go cold turkey. I am a smoker too, and i only smoke socially. So why don't you try to stay away from people who smoke.

How are you getting cigs at the age of 14?

It's hard to quit cold turkey, but its possible.
Try to do things that make you stay away from smoking. Chew gum instead of smoking.

There are all those over the counter methods....also I suppose how much you smoke in a day. You may what to talk to your doctor since you are so young. If that is not possible perhaps you could visit some self help groups run by churches...sometimes libraries have postings of such. Good choice and lots of luck!

See if you can find a smoking hotline for your state. There should be a national one somewhere.

To aid your recovery (not in liu of): see this:

Click on the 'go' link if you want to purchase.

This also looks very good, healthy and safe if you or your parents can afford it: http://www.finalsmoke.com/ Its really worth it, and its really worth discussing your desire to quit with them especially if they can get you this product and counselling.
