We attacked Iraq. So why is President Bush not attacking North Korea? Korea is more of a threat than Iraq. They have a mad man in N. Korea so what is Bush waiting for?

We're actually doing with North Korea what we should have done in Iraq, trying diplomacy. It's funny that now the Bush Administration wants to work with the United Nations to solve the problem when just a few years ago, the United Nations was worthless and couldn't be counted on to help the situation in Iraq. I remember all my Republican friends saying how the UN was worthless and now they want the UN's help in North Korea. Also, we are stretched pretty thin militarily because of Iraq, so the US will not invade North Korea. They will use the testing of these missiles to push for missile defense, so that more contractors can profit off this War on Terror.

It comes down to risk and public support. Risks in Iraq were low (they knew Iraqi standing army would fold easy) and it was close following 9-11, so everyone was for it. With Korea, the threat has never hit close to home (maybe the Taepodong whatever missle is changing that feeling) and the risks are incredible. They have a freaking huge army of brainwashed fanatical people, who believe that the US lost the Korean war and that they have better quality of life than we do. I mean, that is TOTAL CONTROL! Oh, they have nukes, too. The risk is never that they would ever win, but that they could destroy S.Korea or hit Japan hard - devastating global markets for a decade - maybe hit California, and finally... China is the big unknown. They vowed to protect N.Korea if we attack. The cost benefit is not in our favor. Bush is not stupid. He is at a disadvantage. Even the art of the bluff is ineffective. My final thought will smack of conspiracy theory... but here it goes. I think it's conceivable that we would "trade" our ally Taiwan to China as an appeasement for our actions against N.Korea. OK, sounds far fetched. But hey, FDR and Churchill did similar at the end of WWII when they sold out the eastern bloc nations in Europe to the Soviets.

Because right now we are supposed to be all buddy-buddy with South Korea and China.

Neither country wants the enormous refugee influx (or destabalizing crime problem) in which the fall of Kim Jong Ill's empire will result. As of right now we are respecting their wishes.

Also, let's be honest, here. What are the odds of a N. Korean missle ever reaching the US? Practically nil. Even if our spectacularlly expensive missile-defense shield fails, I bet we could fly a robotic drone right into the damn thing and explode the missile somewhere over the pacific.

N. Korea doesn't want to start a war. They want food so Kim Jong Ill (a.k.a. President Comrade Dumbfukk) can continue to stabilize his corrupt and fraudulent kingdom. I would love to wipe him out, but the logistics are pretty complicated considering our current adventures in the Middle East.

1) Iraq attacked one of our allies (Kuwait) and we defended them, getting attacked by Saddam in the process.
2) We agreed to a cease-fire with Iraq if they would agree to unfettered access of the U.N. to all WMD facilities (which everyone agrees did exist, as they used these to make the gas attacks on the Kurds and against their neighbors).
3) Saddam repeated broke the cease fire by attacking randomly and refusing access, lying sufficiently to U.N. inspectors that they complained openly and repeatedly.
4) The U.N. repeatedly (15+ times) tells Iraq over a decade that "they are going to be severely punished if they don't cooperate. Saddam says "yes", then ignores them and tells his allies that he "has WMDs and can use them".
5) The U.S.A. gets tired of the U.N.'s impotent threats, and since they signed on to the threats. follows through. The cease-fire was already broken with Iraq by Saddam. We responded.

6) North Korea is a sovereign state that HAS NOT ATTACKED US! We cannot just go in and attack them. It is the seditious, and the socialists, who keep saying this and using this example because they DO NOT RESPECT SOVEREIGN NATIONS!

7) President Bush and the U.S. does. We attacked Iraq only after they attacked us and later broke the cease-fire.

8) We will defend the U.S. if N. Korea attempts to attack us. Otherwise we will use other methods.

Unlike some of our seditious citizens who confuse undermining our country with Free Speech, some of us have ethics.

so the people who want to leave Iraq for a threat that carries the same weight as Iraq did prior to us going in want to attack north Korea without letting the world try to find a diplomatic answer. well we don't have to invade, attack, or bomb north Korea. the answer is simple put enough nuclear warheads in japan to wipe them off the map and cut the food supply

Two reasons come to mind. Bush Sr. has no vendetta's against Kim Jong-il, and they are not a mass producing oil country.
