While i was living in Spain the Spanish and Italian girls i knew lightened their hair with a 1/2 lemon Juice 1/2 Cheap Vodka Solution as Lemon Juice alone makes it dry and brittle. These Europeans always look stunning and were sreealing and lightening darker hair this way.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!
IGNORE ALL THE PEOPLE SAYING SUN-IN!!!!!
It is soooo bad for your hair. Once you have sprayed it on it never stops working!! And it doesnt turn it "blonde"
It has to go through the process of lightening, so if your hair is dark brown (like mine was when i tried it) It will go lighter brown, then start turning orange. It hasnt got the power to lift the red out of hair, so it just stays a brassy colour and gets lighter and lighter.
I wouldnt recommend washing hair with Hydrogen peroxide either. Basically, peroxide opens all the cuticles on the hair shaft, and will leave your hair feeling rough and damaged. Also peroxide alone does not lighten hair!
I'd stick with lemon juice, but dip a comb into a bowl of it and comb it on.
For all the faffing around though, just go to a salon.
If its the cost that bothers you you can just have "parting hi-lites"
They will hi-lite the very top section so that when you hair is down the top section will be hi-lited
This method is very cheap as they only use a few foils and very little colour

Most hair naturally gets lighter when your in the sun and like you said lemon juice works too. Try Sun In you can get it from CVS and it has part lemon juice and part other natural ingrediants and it works well . . you'll see it working in a matter on a couple days.

Hi
Not sure what country you're from so i don't know if it's available where you are, but alot of my friends swear by a product called 'Sun In'. From what i remember, you just spray it on and your hair then lightens in the sun. Similar to lemon juice, but with more dramatic results! Oh and they bought it from Boots.

Sun-in contains hydrogen peroxide, otherwise known as BLEACH. it works with the sun and also with the heat from your hairdryer. if you have brown hair and use it, your hair WILL turn ginger. if you're dark blonde and want to go lighter, just use a little Sun-in - a little goes a long way and you also decrease the chance of your hair turning straw-like.
for actual hair dyes - i recommend Nice and Easy.

Try Sun-In. You just put it in before going in the sun and it works wonders.

I used to use a product called Sun In. Don't know if they still make the stuff but it wouldn't hurt to ask. Go to Walgreen's, Sav-On or Rite-Aid.
