For some reason, they always have an easier time getting up than getting down. But they CAN get down. Create a landing pad with some blankets and shake the food bag or run the can opener or whatever turns your cat on. Don't rush to call out the fire brigade. They need to deal with real emergencies.

The cat will eventually get down. Put some food at the bottom of the tree maybe its favourite treat.
I have never truthfully heard of a cat stuck for good up a tree.
Good luck.

Have a few questions. How long has your cat been in the tree? How high is your cat in the tree? If your cat has been in the tree for 3 days, call a tree service or landscaping service. They have the equipment to do the job. Most fire departments won't help despite what we see on Animal Planet...A tree service or landscaping service will cost money, but it was my only option when this happened to me a few years ago.

This actually happend to me about 5 years ago (and the cat is still alive). My cat got chased up a tree by a neighbors dog, and we figures she would come down when she felt safe and was hungry. Well 4 days passed and she was still up the tree. We were getting worried that she would dehydrate too much or become disoriented and fall out. What makes this scary is she was about 75 feet up on a branch that was stuck out over a ravine (no joke, my parents live about 300 yards from a very deep ravine). If she had fallen from that branch she would have died (there is a rocky creek at the bottom). We actually tried calling the fire department, but we did not live within a city's limits so our firefighters are volunteer only, and they declined. We had to call a tree trimming service. They came out with their truck that has the little bucket on the arm that they can raise up. They went up to her with cat food, but she isn't a friendly cat and she just backed further away from them towards the edge. I was young, and scared for my cat, so I actually climbed down the ravine and was standing at the bottom with a large blanket. I guess I thought maybe I could try to catch her if it came to that. Well finally they decided the only way to get her down alive was to cut off the branch she was on. It was a long shot, but they tied off the branch, so that once it was cut they could pull on the rope and swing the branch towards the ground instead of letting it fall to the creek below. Everyone's hope was that she would cling to the branch as it fell until it was over the ground. Well, it worked. She held tight and jumped off the branch about 10 feet from the ground and took off for the house. It cost us 75 bucks, but we honesly had no other choice. I didnt' feel that she was going to come down on her own after 4 days of being up there. So I hope your case is not so dramatic. Keep in mind that if a few days pass and your cat is still up there, you may have to seek help.

From a firefighter, leave it alone just put its food at the bottom of the tree and it will come down when its hungry. Just ask yourself how many cat skeletons you have seen up trees

If you live in the same type of town I live in the fire dept, animal controle and law inforcement could care less about your cat.
Alot depends on the age of your cat, older cats have a better sence on how to navigate themselves out of trees better then kittens.
I have a litter of four kittens that live on my back screened in porch, I keep the door cracked open so they can come and go as they please, In the past three weeks I have had to rescue all four kittens out of my oak tree next to the porch.
I put a aluminum extension ladder against the tree and tryed to to get them but they were in a fork of the tree just out of reach so I had to scrub that idea.
I have one of those large green tarpolas that I streched around the tree and using bungi cords attached it to anything I could. To make a long story short I believe I saved all the kittens lives with the tarpola three of them went to the end of the branch they were on and eventually fell out landing on the tarp.
The fourth tryed coming down the trunk of the tree made it down about four feet and fell. he hit three rungs of the ladder, I was able to catch him with outstreched arms before he hit the ground, he was falling head first.

If your cat is older chances are that he will come down on his own, If you have a tarp to strech use it, If you don't see if a neighbor has one you can borrow. also put out some dry food in a bowl you can make noise with to get the cats attention.

Good luck.

Hi: Your cat is in a tree but I doubt he is stuck. I'm sure he will come down on his own. Why don't you call the fire department to get him/her down so you don't have to worry. The fire department loves to help. Good luck and don't worry
