Ok, I had braces and get ready. First, did you wear anything to enlarge your jaw? Like now, is there anything that you are wearing that is to enlarge your jaw so that you can put braces later? It takes about more than half and hour for the braces to be put on, the dentist will suck out all the moisture in your mouth and your mouth will be completely dry then he will put some kinda glue on your teeth then the metal(small pieces of metal, is the black black thing you see on ppl's teeth wth braces) then on with the wires. If you were enlarging your jaw, after putting the braces, your teeth are gonna hurt..real bad..mine did cuz i was wearing a jaw enlarger before i put mine on. nothing else but the every month "tuning" of your braces is really gonna hurt...mine did..all the best to you..good luck!

It doesn't take too long. Maybe an hour per session, and he'll probably take two sessions to put the whole set on.
As about pain, everytime you visit your dentist for maintenance, he'll tighten up your braces, which will probably cause discomfort while eating for a couple of days. It depends from person to person, some feel nothing, some feel pretty awkward.
Other than that, there are no major worrries about having braces on. Just don't poke or play with it, chew pencils or pens or eat really hard food, and you'll be just fine!

I got my braces on February 2005, It takes not long like an hour & a half, It hurts a little bit afterwords and feels very weird but you get used to it in a bout a week and the pain goes away in like 2 days. But if you take an advil it doesn thurt at all. No braces do not get in the way of kissing, i does not hurt at all when they are putting them on but if you are sensitive to touh you could take tylenol before hand. you should get them tightened every 6-8 weeks and it takes on average two years to work.

I was an adult ortho patient...had my braces on for approximately 1 1/2 years...the only pain that I experienced was when the braces were adjusted/tightened with orthodontia visits...my mouth and jaw would ache for a day or so...
The only thing that I need to tell you ...WEAR YOUR RETAINER after you come out of your braces...this will keep your teeth straight and avoid movement back to original condition.

I'm not sure how long it takes to have them put on; as far as pain afterward, there might be some. Ask your doctor and/or dentist about taking ibuprofen before getting them put on. The pain doesn't usually last very long, and it will be so worth it...

it takes about 2 hours. it hurts alot afterwards and during. Good luck and take tylonal before and after you go to the orthodontist. Take a nap when you get home from the ortho to not think about the pain.

It normally takes ten minutes to put them on. And yes, they hurt, plus after every adjustment. Umm...you might not want to eat broccili. It sucks getting it out. Also, make sure you brush really good...extra good because some places don't get the full brush-effect and you'll get bad breath.

i got my braces off last year, now i have to get tham on the bottom AGAIN on monday.it takes anywhere from 45-60 minutes to put them on,the pain is worst the first week or two, after that it gets better.what REALLY helps is eating crackers RIGHT after you get them tightened.keep crackers in the car. Also, when you get them put on,put 3 advil/aleve`s in the car, take them when your driving home. And,when they take off your braces, make sure that they put the wire on the bottom VERY SECURELY because mine wasnt,so im getting tem again.good luck!it wont be too bad
