Dogs rule! All dogs have personalities. All dogs love to play and be touched and petted. Can't do that with a cat. Most cats don't even want to be in the same room as you. a dog always wants to be with you. A dog is excited and greets you at the door everytime you come home. A cat won't. You might even have to hunt the cat down because you may not see it all day. Cat's are for lazy people. Dogs stimulate your mind, keep you active and definitely make you laugh.
Guess I'm a dog lover huh?

Dogs are more work. The bigger the dog....the more work. On a scale of 1 - 5, (5 being the best choice) I would say a dog is a 5. You can have fun with a dog and bring them with you if it's well trained. A dog is a companion for a long, long time.
Cats are easier. Cats are independent which is why I would rate them a 3/4.
It really depends on you, your life style and how much of yourself you are willing to give to a pet. If you can't walk your dog every day and groom it regularly and keep up with the shots, etc.....get a cat. Cats require some daily care and veterinary care but you can go on an overnight trip without worrying about leaving your cat home alone!

Well let's see I love both cats and dogs (and own both):
Cats:Independent types, who come to you when they want to and not before. I've even had extrodinarily sweet cats, and even they where independent and aloof at times. They are a bit cleaner as far as care is concerened, especially in the beginning when if you get a non-house broken dog you will most likely have some "accidents". I personally rate cats about a 4.
Dogs: For the most part, dogs I've owned or come in contact with where very loving animals who where wonderful companions. They love to play with their master, take walks or even just sit around. If you are looking for more of a "friendly" type animal a dog is your best bet.
I personally rate dogs a 4.75 (i'm a bit of a dog person though..)
So there ya go...when you choose either a dog or a cat, please make sure to research the breed you want (if you are not going to a shelter--which for the most part has mixed breed animals--and honestly I would recommend going to a shelter anyway because you'll probably get a better animal) and make sure the breed will be happy and thrive in your enviroment and that you know what its potential problems are health and otherwise so you can be ready to deal with them.

Dogs are really fun, more interactive but more work intensive (scale 5)
Cats are easier (no walking) but also less fun and you cannot take them places (3).
If you do get a cat or a dog get it from a shelter or rescue - you can pick one you like (old or young) and you help save a life. Animals who are rescued are usually better companions because they know you saved them. You can also help others with your pet (therapy work) or if you are not sure you want a dog your whole life, then raise a guide dog puppy. You help someone and you only have them for about 1 year.

Hi: I have always had both and can tell you that a kitty is less work. I don't have to walk my cat every day but I do have to walk my dog every day no matter what. No matter if it's raining, snowing or really hot out and even when i'm sick. I can go away and leave a kitty litter box for the cat with a big bowl of food and water but you can't do that with a dog. Both are lovable animals. Good luck!!

Both will be equally good pets but I recommend a dog.
Sure they can be a pain in the butt sometimes but they are so loyal and playful. But a cat might be good as well sure they lazy but very affective. I'd get them both because I have both and they get along just fine. I rate perfect 5s for both cat and dog (but im just an animal lover)

Boy that's a tuffy. Depends on how much time you are willing to spend and take care of it? I have two indoor only cats and three dogs. I don't have to worry about taking my cats out to use the bathroom, or when I am gone for a week end they can tend to themselves. My cats are very cuddly and spend lots of time on my lap. However, dogs are more interactive. You can take them for a walk or to a public outing and show them off. One of my dogs is our travel dog and she goes everywhere with us. Dogs require more time and more attention than cats. I don't think I could choose between the two cuz they have their own great qualities. Good luck deciding.

It really depends on the type of cat or dog but both animals are great. Dogs can be more playful and cats jump on stuff and usually sleep for most of the day.
