Maybe in another 400 years; I have hope. But if it doesn't die then it will surely kill us all.

Enlightenment probably was a great darkness. The fact is, with all the intelligence and science in the world, mankind cannot make poverty history, cannot more than ever avoid the descent into dysfunctional family and community, corporate and individual injustices and atrocities betwen one man and another, one nation and another, one race or sex and another. Man still cannot learn what it is that will make them happy, or fulfilled, or satisfied, or know the way to eternity.
The concept that man is backward by resorting to 'religion' and believing in superstition is not fact; it is an acknowledgement that we do not have all the answers in ourselves, far from it. At least that is a first step to realise this - to say that we are enlightened by our own intellect, achievement and scientific and cultural advances and have no need of something greater than ourselves for answers is untrue.
When we humble ourselves and realise there is no way in ourselves to change our faults, undo our sins and be free of our past, we finally are ready to give up. Give up our way and choose God's way.
And God's way is this: I love you, you screwed up and are a lost cause, but I'll take your place and die with the consequences of your doomed life so you can take my place and have a new life. And because I will overcome death and come to life again you share in this new life and your new life will be forever with me.
Take the offer today. When people truly give up their life to God's way, God works in them to become the people that they could never work in themselves. They become nationbuilders, lovegivers, generous and abundant lifechangers. They become like Jesus.
blessings,

As long as there are gullible and stupid people, religon will continue.
That is thier membership base after all.
Think of it this way, if you do any hiring for your company or department, if the resume lists a church or church-activities, shred it. It's an excellent warning flag.
That's what I do. I'd rather take an underqualified person who rejects religion, than a qualified person who believes in a magic sky-pixie.

We have to make people think rather than believe blindly. We have to show the folly of the New Testament. common people don't read scholarly texts so we have to do it through the novel or a movie. Put on your thinking cap. Plot an outline. Research and go from there. I do it all the time and have to believe that I'm getting closer. Thank God for Barnes and Noble....

probably not, people love this stuff...even though it contradicts everything their rational minds tell them...they babble on...belief in a myth seems to be a human necessity.
