Quality food and exercise. Muscle weighs more than fat, so start walking and lifting weights.
Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies in addition to lean meats and grains.
Personally, I would stay thin, if it is easy for you. When you are 40 you will be struggling to look the way you do now...

weight lifting... it's the best method I know... don't try to gain weight by eating a lot of sugar... instead, eat lots of protein or a protein supplement and start lifting weights at your gym...
I typically do it 4x a week, every other day. this basically gives your muscles some rest and allows them to grow.
A sample of my schedule is as follows:
Sunday - Upper Abs, Chest, Biceps
Tuesday - Lower Abs, Shoulders, Triceps
Thursday - Oblique Abs, Back, Fore Arms
Saturday - Legs - Calves, Glutes and Thighs
This just requires about 30 mins in the gym... You could find lots of exercises on the web on targeting these muscle groups... I usually do 3 or 4 sets (that is doing reps without stopping until I reach a certain number)
Set 1: 15- 20 reps
Set 2: 12- 15 reps - I
Set 3: 8 - 12 reps - I
Where an "I" is marked, I increase the weight or poundage that I'm using (I do not do this though on ab workouts)
It's important to try and work your muscles to the point of MMF or Momentary Muscle Failure. What this means is you work out that muscle group until making another repetition is basically impossible, this will get you the fastest results.
I know a website that can help you gain muscle mass in just 90 days or 12 weeks.... You basically need a gym to do so, and signing up for the basic program on this website is about $10. The subscription is for a year I believe.

I had the same problem and people thought I had a eating disorder. You probably have a high metabolism if you have trouble gaining weight when you clearly eat enough.
Just stick to a healthy diet, make sure you are getting enough calories for the energy that you use, and you should be okay. 2,000 calories is about average for normal activity, but if you are athletic or do other very physical activities, you may need more than 2,000 per day.

You may laugh but I had surgery a few years ago that made it difficult to eat solid food. I lost 23 pounds which I shouldn't have so here's how I gained it back. Daily servings of Wendy's Frosty and cans of Ensure. The weight was back in no time!

Eat lots of healthy food only three times a day no snacking, eating the same amount of food in five or six meals a day is what people do to help speed up their metabolism and loose weight so if you slow down your metabolism you should find it easier to gain weight, also don't drink coffee or smoke.
