Try taking some goat's milk (you can get it at the grocery store) and mix it with a little meat baby food (I like to use lamb). You want to make it runny at first. Warm it up like you would a baby bottle (so that you do not feel it on the inside of your arm). Put it in a shallow dish and place the puppy, feet first, into the dish as well. Do not worry, puppys can be wiped off. The first couple of times, she will not know what to do so kind of help her by getting some on your finger and dabbing it gently at her mouth. As she gets the hang of it, you can start making the broth thicker and thicker until you can start substituting canned food in. Feed her at least every 3-4 hours now - more if she is hungry and you should be down to 3 per day by 6 weeks and 2 per day by 8 weeks (unless she is a toy breed). I have a female who stopped feeding her puppies as soon as they started cutting teeth and there was no way I could make her start again. Good luck.

I would also suggest trying to bottle feed the puppy. Do you know the mother of the puppy? Perhaps the person who owns the mother would let the puppy come back to nurse. It is true that puppies reallly shouldn't be weaned from their mother untill at least six weeks.

However, if your schedule does not permit that this is also something you could try...(though please try as hard as you can to bottle feed the puppy or otherwise have it nursed.)

A mix of canned-only a little bit ( I do believe that make puppy canned food) with a softened mix of puppy dry. (or you could probably used infant rice cereal) To soften the mixture soften it with puppy replacement milk.

Honestly it may not hurt to buy puppy vitamins as well.

Hope this helps.

If the puppy is only four weeks old, the pup needs a mixture of puppy formula and maybe a little ground up dry puppy food once in a while. four weeks old is really too young for the pup to be away from its mom, and should still be taking nourishment from her...if that's not an option, go to PetSmart and get their puppy formula.

Start out with puppy food that is moistened with some water, they will make a huge mess so dont be worried if they dont eat any of it at first.

At 4 weeks old they dont need strictly "puppy milk"

A 1 month old puppy should still be nursing exclusively. They aren't old enough for solid food, or cow's milk. If you don't have the mother, or something happened to her, then you can get replacement "formula" at your local vets office, or pet supply store.

if u have had the dog for a month and now he's 10-12 weeks old, puppy chow is fine. i'd stick to the dry food only other wise the poo is gonna b runny, and that isn't good for any1. if the pup is 1 month old all around, he/she's too young to b away from it's mama.

We use Puppy Chow and just add water let it sit to soften it up for our puppies or you can put in the mirowave for a 20-30 seconds with some water to warm it up for your puppy .You also might want to check with your vet to see what is best for your puppy.

Listen to TMF (the 3rd answer). Otherwise your puppy wont make it. Puppys should not be weaned from "mother's" milk until they are at least 6 weeks old. You can buy the substitute milk at Walmart. Good Luck.
