No I don't think so, how bad was it, and have they found out yet, if not just carry on. Unless it was a real big lie to get something you don't deserve. Sometimes a little white lie to get what you are entitled to isn't that big a crime when you know of people who get stuff that they shouldn't be getting yet always get more than others who do need it get.

Insanity, temporary or otherwise will never work for Theft By Deception.
The insanity plea may work in very rare "crime of passion" cases. Even then, Andrea Yates was legally insane when she murdered her children yet she still went to jail.
Any you're asking for the same plea for lying on a housing voucher? Rotsa Ruck!!!

No...you're overthinking this. Keep it simple. Act airheaded and dumb as a box of rocks. Be surprised about the error. Allege you didn't know. Then apologize and say you're sorry you misunderstood. You weren't feeling well when you filled out the form, you were under a lot of stress and on pain medication for a back injury.

not unless you can prove that you were or have had treatment for the mental problems you were supposedly having! I'd just offer to pay the money back if I were you.
If they take you to court they can order you to repay immediatly, ut if you offer to pay it back you can set up a plan to pay back as little as £2 per week.
Best Of Luck

You are in the classic Catch-22: if you lied to get a benefit, you must not be crazy!

Worth a try, especially if it causes them to section you in a psychiatric ward. Free food AND accomodation! small price to pay for the psychotropic injections in the butt.

Not a chance! I think the only real option is to plead stupidity, say that you did not unerstand the questions.
