And if he IS in charge of the whole universe then why do Christians believe he would pick earth out of the infinite number of other places to send his only son. For the record, I think all religions are nonsense, but that doesn't mean I dont care about the questions they throw up.

It seems like the answer is dependent on what people believe, and it seems that most of the respondents have been Christians. Christianity teaches (that is, expects it's followers to accept and believe) that God rules the entire universe, hence most of these Christians who have answered have given the expected answer. What exactly did you expect? There aren't many (monotheistic) religions that say god is not in control of everything in the universe.

I find your question extremely provocative, however, as an atheist/agnostic who believes merely in the possibility of higher life forms (aliens or perhaps to us something that even seems (or is) supernatural). I've always thought, like most human beings, that unexplained phenomena might be attributable to god type beings or extremely advanced ETs. It's just that unlike most human beings, I haven't accepted one popular myth as fact without sufficient evidence.

I would have much less difficulty believing that there is some sort of higher being who weilds some type of power in the vicinity of our galaxy or solar system as opposed to an individual super-being with unlimited power overseeing the entire universe, consisting of billions and billions of galaxies and at least several, in all likelihood, dimensions.

Of course, monotheists have a much more forceful argument from authority at their disposal when they claim their god oversees Everything. Even though the "argument from authority" is a very simple logical fallacy (someone important says A, so A must be true). When you make that "someone important" omniscient and omnipotent (rather than just a two bit local governor - like comparing a school board official to leader of the free world), it makes that fallacious argument infinitely stronger against people who accept such bogus arguments (aka almost all religious people). When you combine the "argument from authority" with "circular reasoning" (another logical fallacy) (God said the bible is his word, how do we know, well the bible says so) and to over half of the people in our country (or any long time Christian nation) those two logical fallacies combined are sufficient "proof" that what the bible says is correct.

Hence, the responses, predominantly from people in mostly Christian countries, have been, as expected, giving the answer found in the Bible.

Also, I think Christians, like most people until maybe 100 years ago, didn't really think there was life on other planets, or that there were other planets (stars were little lights in the sky, and the earth was flat, until very recently, in the minds of most Christians, minds which can be shown to have very slow learning curves). This is why Christians (or most people in general) believe the Earth is the center of the universe (finding out the sun was the center of our "solar system" was sort of a shock to many people) and the only place where people live. Thus, Christ was sent here, of all places!

Finally, God created the Heaven and the Earth, according to the first verse of the Bible. I don't know if Heaven means all of space and time, or if it means the place where people go to live their eternal afterlife, that's what I thought it meant. If that's what it means, then certainly other entities could be in control of other parts of space or celestial areas or dimensions.

In the beginning God created the Heavens and the Earth.

The Heavens relates to the entire Universe, the Earth the planet we are standing on.

Therefore, if He created it all then He is the Boss no one else.

Of course all religion instituted by mankind is nonsense, I agree.

No, I am not one of Jehovah`s Witnesses. However, the message they publish is the only one that makes any sense.

To Answer this your question, you have to asked IF you wanted God to exist. What Christian believed have nothing to do with what you think. Further No one can say how powerful the God is. So does it matter if God exist in your mind or not, assuming if you don't believe God existed! Check if you could be in charged of your own body before checking "others" and that include, the God. I am not a christian.

Well lets just say, as we find more planets an galaxies he becomes the creator of more and more. Honestly it's a joke.

First he built the earth in seven days, then it was the universe! Religion has always been changed to fit, so no religion is a true religion as it has changed so much.

Then you probably won't like my answer. But God created the universe for the creation of Earth and mankind. You may think that we are a small speck on the backside of the universe. But to God, we are front and center of everything.

God created the whole universe.
i don't think that the religions are nonsense like you do.......believing in something is better than believing in nothing as you can have some answers to your questions.
in fact i'm a muslim and proud to be a muslim and i believe it is the righteous religion.....so i dont believe that jesus(pbuh)is God's son whom He sent in to this world....i believe that jesus christ(pbuh)is His prophet with the message of the bible(the true bible).......
and we dont know if there are any other worlds in other planets whom God created (and sends prophets to and will judge them )in this vast universe or not....
in the end its up to you if you want to have a religion and believe in something or not.......

What? Then who do you suppose created the universe?
God doesn't need a son, he created earth for us to live, don't ask such question about God's creations, they are known as you are sabotaging God so stop asking such questions.
And if you think all religions are nonscence then why are you aking a question about God?(if you meant all man-made religions are nonscence, then I agree)

in the book " conversations with god " by Neale Donald Walsh , the question was posed " are you the only god ? " I'm not quoting but basically the answer was no that there are many gods
whether you believe that this book was god or not speaking , it certainly made me think alot .. about how with the many many planets and solar systems .. that maybe the god we think of is our god , this planets god , maybe there are many gods for the many species throughout the universe ??
