Your written English is good. Better than that of the majority of the people who list questions here and happen to be native English speakers with no idea of grammar, spelling or proper manners.
Listen to music, try www.accuradio.com and opt for the swinging pop standards, listen to Mr. Frank Sinatra, he has a very easy, neutral accent that is pleasant and quick to acquire. Try to watch tv in English and talk to any English speaking person who is willing to do so.

The best way to learn a language is to live in a country whose people speak that language.
If you want to get better at English, then don't be afraid of Australia. Move there and take some English classes first. Or, don't go to school right away. Spend several months learning to speak better with the people before you start school.
It is scary, but it will work. Trust me!

It depends on what is not so good about your English. If it's grammar, classes (even online or reading an ESL text book) are good. If it's a fluency issue, (a) do vocabulary drills and (b) find people you can converse in English with. Conversation with English speakers can help pronunciation too, but you'll have to let them know you want them to correct your pronunciation, otherwise they might be "polite" and ignore mistakes.
In any case, make sure you buy yourself a good and easy to use Japanese/English dictionary. That way, you can write down any words or phrases you don't understand for looking up later. Look them up and rehearse using them.

Just read English books, papers, watch English movies. Familiarise yourself with the English language.
I remember studying Japanese in High School and I found it very difficult because you had like 3 alphabets. English is quite simple, 1 alphabet hehe:)
Good luck + Australia is a great place and the majority of people are relatively tolerant and friendly!

Asking questions like this is a good start! :)
Spend as much time as you can listening to and speaking English. Find videos to watch online. (Try www.youtube.com for a lot of free videos...be careful though, some of them can be scary. And some of them are in Japanese :p ) Listen to English radio or podcasts.
If you can, find someone to practice speaking English with. (If you can use instant messaging programs online, you could probably find someone who is interested in learning Japanese, too)
Don't be afraid! Your English won't get better unless you use it...if you want to improve, go to Austrailia :) You'll get better very quickly once you're there!
And your English is already pretty good!

Classes are a good idea, but English is not an easy language to learn. We have many words that sound alike, but are spelled different. Or words that are pronounced alike and spelled alike but mean something different. For example: quite can mean things are very different, There is quite a difference between the colors black and white. Or things are very quite around here today, meaning not much noise. Quite is spelled alike, but pronounced different depending on how you want to use it

the best thing to do is get a rope, a chicken, and a gallon of water. Now get the rope and tie it around the chickens neck now et the gallon og water and pour it on the chicken. This will then make the chicken mad and start pricking you with its beak and try not to let the rope go. As for the english part I really dont know but after you try this im sure your going to want to try it again.

As an Australian I would have to say, learning as you live is probably the best way to learn Australian. I say that because although we speak English what we do to the original form takes some getting used too. In order to speak great Australian its all in the Attitude. Always have a sense of humour. and don't take yourself soo seriously. I hope you have a wonderful experience
