Although I do not agree that it is necessary for women to cover their hair in that way, I think it is very nice to see people who are honestly trying to practice their religion. People of many faiths wear special clothing or jewelry as part of their religion, so it's not that unusual.

I find it very interesting from a cultural point of view that the hair is seen as such as sexual thing for Muslims. And I find it interesting that there doesn't seem to be an equivalent thing that men have to cover. I'm curious: does this mean that Muslims think that women are able to resist temptation more than men? This is an honest question.

Funny you asked that. I never really thought about that. I do know that my feelings toward that have changed since 911. I now see people with it and it seems to make a rebelious statement to me. Just as if I lived in an Arab country I would be expected to dress like the people there. Although the bible speaks of having the head covered so I think it says a lot for us to be respectful of God and do that. But when it is the whole dress I don't think God meant for a woman to stick out like a sore thumb. I don't like the idea of someone else imposing their will upon a woman and making them do it. According to the bible we are set free from the law too. You could wear a scarf and I should't think get noticed too much. Your head could be covered but maybe not in the traditional arab way. After all it is the obedience to God which matters more than man.

I am very glad you told us what a hijabb is, because I didn't know. I have nothing against a woman wearing one if SHE chooses to do so. The disadvantage is that some men think you are loose if you don't wear one or cover your body, and will treat you with disrespect, so that hurts those of us who don't do that. I think all women should dress modestly, but there are various standards, and just because I don't cover my body completely doesn't mean it's OK for a man to wolf whistle at me, put his arm around me, or do something even more disrespectful. I expect men to exercise self-control.

In Malaysia, some women wear very colorful hijabb's. I like that. :)

Nothing. Why do you ask? It's your culture, if you're happy why would I have an opinion?
I think they're actually quite attractive - no doubt you will see them on a catwalk near you soon.

By the way, did you really have to tell people what a Hijabb was. Surely we live in a society that is informed enough to know?

On second thought, the whole tone of the question is a little superior. I think you were just trying to be provocative.

If a woman chooses to wear the head scarf or whole outfit (voluminous robes, etc), I have no problem with that. I don't believe she should be forced to do so though.

Personally I don't have anything against a woman wearing anything as long as she does it willingly and it is not forced upon her. I know of situations where certain women in Arabic countries wear to cover their bodies, and once they leave their countries and go to others wear revealing cloths - this shows what their preference is. Any body should be able to wear any thing that person would prefer to as long as it is socially acceptable depending on where you are.

I don't have anything against it if a WOMAN chooses to wear it, not the society or so-called religious laws (by the way, Islam doesn't prescribe to wear it as something obligatory, a woman has a choice).

My mother-in-law has two sisters. Of the three of them, one has never worn hijab. One has always worn it (since puberty). On did for about ten years and decided to take it off. I respect and love all three of them.

Why should I care what a person chooses to wear?

And why should I care what bigots think of what a person chooses to wear?
