I love this forum! The minister says prayer is the cure; the doctor says there is no cure; and the nurse says THERE IS NO SUCH DISEASE!
They are all wrong.
Chikungunya fever is a disease caused by an alphavirus. The Indian ocean islands, equatorial Africa, and Reunion Island have had serious recent outbreaks.
Treatment of joint complications with several anti-inflammatory medicines works. French doctors have also demonstrated benefit of chloroquine (the anit-malarial) for joint symptoms. Interferon, ribavirin, iota-carrageenan, and 6-azauridine may also be effective antivirals against alphaviruses, but their use is still experimental.

Chikun gunya is a viral disease .Though this disease is self limitting and very rarely a fatal outcome may occure.,there is not,uptillnow ,any specific antiviral against chikungunya found for cure.Therapy is symptomatic consisting of drugs to relieve joint and body pains ,plenty of oral fluids and bed rest .
