You might want to see a doctor about that one.

It's probably not your kidney, it only feels like it because of the location of the pain. It's probably a subluxated (twisted) vertebra that is compressing a nerve in that region of the kidney and makes it painful to touch the flank, or move a certain way. Try reversing the way you sleep. Sometimes this will untwist it and relieve it. Do you keep your body in alignment when you turn in bed? Like do you move your upper body and then your lower body? If you do, that's probably it, but I"ve been wrong before. Just a guess.

Do you sleep on your stomach? If so that might be your problem. When u sleep on your stomach, you are resting your weight on your bladder. The reson it hurts is because of the lac of space for the liquids to rest, your urine then travels back up into your kidneys. But you should have this checked out if its been like that for 6 years!

I read you hold stress in the kidneys as well, if you feel real stressed you might feel it in there this could be the casue but i hate to think in your case its somthing serious...you migh thave a kidney disiese..take this VERY seriously and get yourself to a specialist as soon as you can..better be safe then sorry as they say..good luck..
and btw try making two fists and rubbing them in circular motions on your back by your kidneys this helps me when they hurt.

do you drink too little or too much before going to sleep? How does your urine look like? First pee in the morning: is it dark and heavy smelling or is it lightly colored and non-smelling? Have you talked to your doctor about this?

Please check if you have the kidney stones. I do not know which is your country and is it possible for me to suggest some herbal remedy.
