When the US government was created (the following is backed up by countless historical documents, look them up and if you disagree, YOU prove ME wrong, and if you do, I will change my tune),
The freedom of religion idea was only for freedom of choice within CHRISTIAN religions?
the founders of this counrty, from all of the 13 colonies, built their state constitutions, as well an these early state constitutions (as states wer allow more autonomy then) had qualifications for public office that REQUIRED the holder of these posts to be CHRISTIAN.
But they stopped at tests that would indicate which 'branch' of christianity. It was not unconstitutional, as they themselves wrote the constitution and sat upon the supreme court and would surely would have struck down anything likely to destroy what they had just fought so hard to create.
whether you like it or not, The US is a CHRISTIAN-BASED country.
To deny it, is to deny the truth

please no arguements that include stuff like (but not limited to) they had slaves and history shows that to have been wrong, so that PROVES they were wrong on this too!
They are two unrelated subjects
I am stating the fact that the FOUNDATION or our laws and principles are CHRISTIAN and therefore changes made based on, or to accomodate other non-Christian views is not correct as it undermines what our basis or existing, as a country is!

I didn't know that; it's interesting. :o) Sorry my response is rather pathetic; I can't think of anything to add!

We have advanced beyond their primitive notions. Perhaps that is how our country ONCE was, but that is not what it's about today. Should we follow our heritage, denying anything else, simply for the sake of tradition? No. America is about innovation. Finding something that works. It is so much better now that we don't have to all be of the same theology. There are other ways of doing things that work better for some other people.

did you know that a theocracy is wrong no matter what the founding fathers believed?
some of the founding fathers had slaves too, do you think slavery is alright?
how could forcing your faith (which is belief without evidence) on others be ok? would you like it if they did that to you?
