Why are you asking a question about the bible. I keep answering questions about the Bible because people keep asking about it. I think people ask about it for two reasons.
1 They are trying to prove somehow that its wrong
2 They truly want to know more about it, because they are missing that part of their lives and they can feel God pulling at their hearts.

That's a great question. When shrill liberals and atheists shout out about how the country should be run, how we all should behave, and that God should be banished from our land, they claim this is their right of free speech.
But when I answer a question on Yahoo and give my source as the Bible, because I believe in it, that's suddenly my "IMPOSING" my beliefs on you? Convenient little double standard, don't you think?
I SHARE my beliefs, I don't IMPOSE them. How you read it is up to you.
When I share my beliefs, I do so with the hope that it will make an impression on those who haven't accepted Christ, who have no relationship with God. But it's not MY job to convert others, that can only be done by the Holy Spirit.
There, hope you don't mind the imposition. If you haven't met Christ yet, I'd ask you to be open minded, and pick up a Bible. Read Matthew chapters 5, 6 and 7, and John chapters 13, 14 and 15. No obligation. But it might give you something to think about.

I can't remember an event in modern times when a Christian tries to force another to believe as he does, so your phrase "impose beliefs" doesn't seem accurate to me. I think the reason non-Christians feel they are being 'imposed' upon is that they do not understand the motivation that causes Christians to share their beliefs. "Love God above all and your neighbor as yourself" are the two commands from the Bible that Christians try to live by, so they love others enough to want to share the good news of salvation through Christ by faith.
So, to answer your first question, the Bible is God's direct communication to humanity and it is truth. It is the compass which Christians use to stay on the right path in life.
I offer this answer with love. :-)

Does someone have a gun to your head to make you read their beliefs?
What do you mean by "imposing"?
I guess people talk about the Bible (and other Holy Books) because it means a lot to them and that is where they personally get a lot of "answers" about life...
I mean... how come you are not ranting about all the mentions of the Q'ran?
Anyone can come here and share whatever they want.
Live with it! It's called Freedom of Speech!!! Or do you love censorship?

Good question. All we really know about God has been revealed to us through the Bible. It is the most trusted information on this earth that gives us information about God and about spiritual things, and about God's creation. Therefore the Bible is the comprehensive source for all spiritual and religious knowledge. That is why on the religious section we talk about the bible so much.

Well, it is the religion section so some of the religious people are going to think the bible has some sort of authority in providing answers.
