If you want to know why this passage, and other passages in the bible don't appear to make sense, please read further. There is a logical explaination.
If you have ever tried to translate from one language to another,
you would know that some words and phrases don't translate very well.
Thanks to the ignorance, and sometimes dishonesty of some bible translators, things don't always seem clear. God is all knowing and does not make errors, but all of his children do.(That's all of us, including me.)
There are good translations of the bible and bad ones. The one you are quoting does not represent the words that were originally written by the prophets. If you were to see another translation you may realize there is no error.
Take Japanese for example. If translating from English to Japanese it simply does not even "translate" in order. A translator must be familiar with both languages to understand what is being said. And sometimes a translator must use a little "artistic license" to convey what is being said.
Most cultures dont even have words for certain words in our language, and vice versa.
Unfortunately some churches even make changes in the translation to make the bible agree with them. And that makes me feel sad for those who misunderstand.
Don't fall into that catagory, there are better translations by people who have better translation skills that people who lived thousands of years ago and had a much more limited education.
The Bible is a not even a book. It is a incomplete collection of books, and not even in chronological order. There many more "books" and testaments to the bible. Some of which we now have, and some we have not found yet?
The "books" of the bible were written by men, but were inspired by a real god. (With the exception of Song of Solomon, which is known by many as not being inspired.)
The Lord's messages, through the prophets are real and valuable. If there is any error in translation, it is because of the misunderstanding of men. And of course, we know we all make mistakes.
Even in trying to explain, my thoughts may be a little disjointed. I may even spell words wrong or use bad grammar. It all goes to show that we should not get caught up in the imperfections of men. Behind the words are meaning and feeling and truth.
As a student of the bible for many, many years; and a student of life for many more, I realize that you see things differently every time you learn something new.
If you ever want to talk more about this, email me. I don't know everything, but I've "been around the block a few times". Try to translate that into an ancient language.--- Smile!!!---A little humor

haha do you think the people he was giving instructions to would have understood how to use pi not to mention that a cubit was the lenght from your wrist ot your elbow not exactly an exact measurement its got quite a bit of error built in to it. I mean did you want them to say that it was 10 times pi cubits around come on be real. when your measuring with your freaking forearm your not going to be able to measure out pi lol. I could see how you might be confused but when you understand how it was done back in day like that it makes more sense. I am a math freak and did that in my head as well.

Well, maybe the cast was ten cubits across but the sea within it would be much smaller, maybe 30 cubits around. There are many of these little discrepancies in things like measurements and you may be surprised to find one day that there are good answers to all these things. It is difficult to put them all together when we are 3,000 years removed from the situation.

I haven't heard a claim that God wrote the Bible, nor do I believe it! If you will, it's actually a diary written by those who witnessed the glorious events. So yes, there are interpretations that may have missed their point exactly. As a whole, it's a wonderful guideline! God bless!

one of the reasons due to which I do NOT believe all of the words are words from any god.
it can also go to show that knowledge has, well, evolved.
