The camera did have pictures of the owners who met my son coming up from the beach. We will only give the camera to the couple on the photos so it will not be worth anyone else trying to claim it. If you know the couple please answer this posting and we will get back to you. Or can anyone suggest how we can contact the owners some other way.

Actually, I think that someone posted here a question about losing a camera in Devon. Do a search for lost camera. They were wondering what the chances were for recovery. Sounds better now.

Keep it. The search for the owner is probably futile, because the beaches is a popular tourist spot. The owner could live anywhere on earth.

I think you should try going to http://www.lostandfound.co.uk/ and posting a similar thing to this on there.

Also try http://www.gumtree.com (find your local area or just select London) then look for "Lost And Found" under the 'community' section.

I am willing to help you out for free by posting the ads / details for you if you want. I'll even set up a special eMail address for it. Just go to my profile and click on "Contact The Techie".

Good luck and well done for doing the right thing.

:-)

Maybe if you put up a sign at the beach where you found it, or is there a lifeguard who you could ask?

you're taking it to the police. they save it for a month and if no one claims it then that is yours. except that is historic it isn't likely that the treasure trove regulation will be used for the state to declare it.
