I applied to get child tax credit 5 weeks ago, can anyone tell me how long it usually takes till they award the claim? Thanx.

can take upto 8 weeks but you get the money Back-dated !
I just hope you filled the forms in correct .... as you will have to pay back any money ... I owe £5,000..! due to them not receving the new forms in time .!!

The best thing to do is to chase them up. As you applied 5 weeks ago they should now have your application logged. Phone them and pester them and they will soon sort it out!

it takes like 6 weeks anyway you will get a letter to confirm everything like first day of payment and so on. could arive next week and first will be at the end of every month.

well you are lucky you have the forms.I called 3 times in 3 weeks ago and every time they are sending me leaflets not the actual application I am so pissed.

ages because the government keeps slashing jobs from the departments that deliver it to save money.

It can take ages. Phone them they can tell you how its going have all your details with you and if they have any queries you can answer them which may speed it up
