Some kind of salted dry fish are very tasty when fried but the problem is excess salt in it. Despite washing repeatedly salt is not removed much. Please suggest ways to reduce salt.

Always use milk to soak dried fish. Change milk a couple of times. If still too salty, blanch in milk first, let steep for a while, then drain and soak again in a little milk.
Room temperature works best.

Soak it in plain water. This will draw out the salt. I would think at least 20 minutes.

my father always had salted mackeral for holidays when i was a kid, all he did was soak it overnight or at least 6 to 8 hrs. before he cooked it, this took a majority of the salt out. by the way change the water it is soaking in twice then rinse before cooking.

firstly, i slice the salted fish really thin (like proscuitto) so that there is more surface area exposed. you then soak it in warm water for at least 15 min. use your finger to taste the water. if it's salty, repeat the soaking with new water till the water tastes almost 'normal' again :)

First of all wash it several times. Then simmer for less than 5 mins. Throw away water, then simmer again for another minute or so and prepare the way you want it.
