My one year old boxer mix has a lump on his chest (near to his nipples) for a couple months, it is pink in color and doesn't seems to cause him pain or itch. What could it be?

My Greyhound had a lump, then another with in a few weeks of each other. Turned out to be cancer. I would take your guy to the vet as soon as possible just to make sure it isn't anything serious.

Probably just a cyst.. How big is it? is it hard? flat or round? A lot of dogs are prone to these. My border/lab has had one on her neck for about 10 years. It started out pea size then grew slowly to the size of a large marble.

We never had it removed but we did have it tested, and was not cancer. They can tell if it's cancer just by inserting a needle and drawing fluid If there is any) Peppers was a black tar like color.. No need to remove it unless it is bothering her and so far it hasn't.

So you will want to have your vet check it the same way. But don't let them talk you into removing it unless it's cancer.. But I doubt that it is. Dogs get these all the time.. So do people, I have 2 of them, one on my hip and one small one on my wrist.

I certainly wouldn't worry about it, but I would have the vet check it out to make sure.

Another type they can get are called fatty tumors, and they feel just like a blob of fat under the skin and are semi flat, they are nothing to worry about either.

It could be a tumor...dummy. No really, no offense, but you need to take him to the vet and have it checked out. Cysts are usually hard and you can feel the roundness of them through the flesh, like if you squeeze the skin around it, it'll feel like a hard little ball. Tumors are more attached to the flesh underneath the skin. He isn't really old enough for a fatty tumor, which is basically harmless, and that feels like a tiny water balloon under the skin. Usually dogs that are in their later years get this. Go to the vet and have them check it out. Better safe than sorry!

My dog had a tumor on his spinal cord in the neck area. With radiation treatment, he got 18 months of additional life, but was sometimes miserable with the steroids. The tumor eventually came back, and he had to be euthanized when he was paralyzed on the left side of his body and pressure on the brain was suspected.

If you love your dog, get it checked out by a reputable vet immediately, as there is always a danger of it spreading. There are remarkable treatments these days. Radiation therapy is not as hard on dogs as it is on humans, for example. The key is to find an excellent vet, as many ordinary vets are not that good at diagnosis. A vet who takes care of general, ordinary problems should ideally refer you to an oncology specialist in your area, if one exists.

The treatments may sometimes be quite expensive. If that is a problem for you, seek out charitable solutions or other financial options. No one will ever love you more than your dog!

i would take your dog to the vet asap! it may just be a fatty tumor called a lypoma. my dog has had those since she was young, apparently some dogs are predisposed to them. she has gotten more of them over the years but they are not harmful and usually don't get too large. they may have to be removed if they are in a spot that bothers them but normally pose no threat. my girl is 11 years old now & still going strong! on the low side it may be a form of cancer. you really need to have it tested so you know what you're dealing with.

It can be an array of things. Don't panic just yet. Do take your dog to the vet to have them look at it. Cancer in a dog this young is extremely rare, but can happen. More likely though, it's just a cyst, fatty tumor, or maybe something even got under his skin.
Don't panic, I'm sure your pooch will be fine.

take your dog to the vet to be checked. My puppy pitbull had a lump on his neck that turned out to be an anerysm on the right jugular that had to be removed. He's doing great now but it was very touch and go during the surgery.

With the age and breed it is probably a histiocytoma or a mast cell tumour, especially if it seems to change size or go red occasionally. You should have him examined by a vet, they can usually be removed fairly easily. They're not very bad tumours, usually not life-threatening.
