Dont use it if you dont like it!

I do not work for Microsoft or own any stock (wish I had bought some years ago) BUT I use Windows XP SP2 with Internet Explorer, MSN Messenger and the following recommended protection software, and PRACTACE SAFE COMPUTING, and have NEVER had a problem with any Microsoft product personally.(knock on wood)

99.9999999999% of the problems I repair are OPERATOR ERROR, (and or hardware burnout)!!!!! (sorry if I seem a little rough but I'm tired of Microsoft getting blamed for the ERRORS of others)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Microsofts latest software is very very good, more user friendly and more functional. Visual Studio 2005 is perfect.

Im guessing that if you think its rubbish, either:
* You do not know how to use the software, its beyond your technical knowledge and you should read up on it.
* YOU have done something wrong and now you are blaming the program.
* You have adware, spyware or something similar and now blame windows.
* Your PC has a fault but rather than blame your PC manufacturer you blame Microsoft.

While a lot of thier old software had faults the new stuff is much better. I cannot see where you can get rubish from.

I guess though if you do not know how to use the software properly it might be seen as rubbish, but thats the same as me saying "This car is rubbish" because I do not know how to use the wipers.

TO the person who said Bill Gates was evil. Seriously grow up, he is no more or less evil than anyone else. How does the fact he had an idea, executed it and made a sucess of it make him evil. He even donates massive amounts to charitys world wide, per annum much more than most countrys do.

Microsoft is a capitalistic, monpolistic(even though they pretend not to be) company.
They care more about money and not having their products stolen then the happines and the productivity of the end user.
They're so big because of MS Windows primarily, because most software products that are used commonly are only written for windows thus the user HAS to buy windows, also every time they produce a new windows vesrion, tehre's a catch that generally ends up in a user buying it, not because it's the safest, most stable, etc...but because it is the latest, ergo the most expensive.

I'm currently waiting for windows vista final. (i don't pay for it anyway), till then I'm happy with linux.

The main reason is that people use it, if you don't like it buy a mac or use linux.
I stopped using microsoft about 2 years ago, although I do use access & excel for work occasionally, run on my linux box using crossover office.

If enough people stop using microsoft products at the very least they will start improving their software & security.

The software is rubbish because Microsoft is so big.

Remember the saying, "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

often old or "orphaned" registry entries won't impact something, so the registry isn't some thing that fairly must be "wiped clean" except there's a difficulty. while agencies build classes, they don't placed an excellent kind of time/money into their uninstall application. This of course ends up in a messy or incomplete uninstall. this is type of the character of the beast. the wonderful component of do to be certain you have a clean working pc is to do a clean deploy of the working device a minimum of as quickly as a 12 months.

Because money sits at the root of all evil and Bill Gates is loaded. He is evil and therefore anything his company produces will be rubbish. Except the Age of Empires games. Then again they crash for no reason, too.
