The social value is a definition of the wants of the community and not the individual but if were speculating opinion then here goes.
If a community wants a high moral standard then its value is apparent. The community desires to exist by its chosen ethos and moral code of Conduct. As long as the individuals in the community's objectives are in line with the community's moral standard the community is working for the greater good of the sum of its parts.
Moral standards can become individually restrictive and confining if they are not reformulated to maintain alignment with the community members aims.
And the social value of a moral code applies only to the community which it is designed for.
A moral standard must be a flexible or alterable set of guidelines that change to reflect the changing values of the the community which adheres to it.

The value would be a direct reflection of your potential or visible work ethic and being trustworthy in the workplace. You would be an appealing leader or follower if viewed with strong moral character. Yet, the personal value of maintaining that standard gives you self respect, confidence, boundaries, and peace.

Well, the social implications are quite valuable.
However, when we adhere to the norms and practices of society, it makes it much easier to lose our abilities to think outside the box. It is almost as if we have to "switch off" a part of ourselves....of our own psyche.
So, I suggest using great care, when adapting to societies "norms". Don't forget that you have a good mind. When you don't use it.....because of the automatic programming, known as etiquette, normalcy, and all the other preconceived structures of society......you can lose it. Your mind will become less sharp in it's abilities to see beyond what everyone else does.
Sorry, I guess I strayed from your question a bit....but, I just had to get that out. LOL

You've asked specifically what the social value is. Simple, it enables the status-quo to continue. We all agree to adhere to a set of principle in our conduct and this allows us to continue living and working together without conflict. This is why we sequester those with a sufficiently low moral standard in jails.

If your morals at work start falling apart, the business won't be in business for very long. We all need parameters, and having good morals, good moral character and integrity are very important. You have to have rules. If there are no morals and no rules you have total anarchy and chaos and a complete breakdown of the societal structure.

The social value, in the long run, is good manners, a higher form of respect for each other, and a degree of civility which would make our relationship towards one another more pleasant.

It's above value, the deteriation of every single facet of society, is leading to a culture of selfish, mindless sheep-people. People willingly give up their right to indivuduality, something so many have fought and died to protect over the last 230 yrs.
