Lots of people on this forum keep answering questions with the answer that God doesn't care about certain issues like what we can use for Lord's supper, which day of the week we meet to worship on, which church we attend, and so forth. My question is - if God doesn't care about these issues as long as you're sincere (even if you're sincerely not doing what He outlined for us to do in the Bible) then why do you think He left us a manual to research answers in and to follow in the first place?

Personally I think the answers to every question especially about proper worship can be found in the scriptures - that's why God gave them to us.

But if you don't believe this and you think all worship and all ways of life are about what feels right to you - then why do you think He left us a Bible at all?

(This is mostly a question for Bible believers as aethists and people of faiths that don't believe in the Bible don't follow it anyway.)

Some people think of the bible as a BURGER KING,"you can have it your way". It is not about our will or about what we want, it is about what the Lord requires of us. It is about his will, not ours.

This is a good point and I am glad you asked it.

I can not speak for everyone, but I am assuming most think the bible is outdated? If this is the case, it's hard to convince someone to take scripture and apply it to their own life when they think it's probably outdated. Personally, as a newbie, I'm still trying to figure out the ways in which some of what is written can be modernized into my life. Though the culture and practices were different in those times, I still believe the bible can be applied to today. It's just showing people how to do it that becomes tricky.

I believe God cares. God cares very much about those here on earth. It's how much He cares that we need to really consider when it comes down to the finer details of things.

However, I will always welcome corrections. :)

I don't know how god gave you the bible. Did he drop it out of the sky?

Anyways, I am an atheist but often think about god. You can listen to my answer or not up to you. One thing though, you should be opne minded to the answers.

So, here is what I think. I belive bible is there to teach people how to be good. If you read the bible (I have, but long time ago, when I used to believe) there are many example of what to do and not to do. I don;t think the bible should be taken word for word, otherwise to me it seems insane. But what you should do is learn from the examples from the bible. Just be good to other people. Treat everyone else as you would like to be treated.
If you think that you should be worshiping god a certain way, then go ahead. If you disagree with the way people worshiping god, its not your business to tell people how they should worship. You just do what you think is necesary and don;t bother others. You may disagree with what they do , but again its not up to or your place to tell them how to do it. I mean, how do you know, maybe you are doing it wrong? Maybe you are the one who is interpreting the bible wrong?
Just something to think about.

I have wondered this myself. People have the Bible, yet we can do anything we want so long as we repent it? The whole purpose of the Bible is more than what we want it to be. It teaches us how to define our morals. It was written rather intelligently for this purpose. From the commandments to stories with morals in them, it was a great way to pass on the teachings and show people how to act. Obviously, not everyone would learn it, but for the most part it did help! It is hard to live in a society if we do not get along. Morals are needed for this purpose. They started out inside us and we passed them on verbally or through teaching. Now we put it in books, and it all just grows. The human psyche is just truly mysterious!!

Very good question. In fact, the bible itself would suggest that god wouldn't care, and therefore wouldn't bother with the bible. And, yet there it is. *lifts the rock god can't carry*

I think you may take the scriptures seriously, and this seems to me to be a good thing; but Jesus taught in parable's so some things are not meant to be taken on a literal basis. I agree about scripture!

He didn't write the bible, it was "written" well after he was dead and gone. And utilised, no doubt, an awfull lot of creative licence. Especially by those who want to frighten you into doing what they tell you tp do

God knows our weakness's and forgives us for them. The bible is his word for us to read. What about people who cannot read, have they no chance of getting to heaven ? Keep it simple.

I agree there are proper ways to worship...ect. but if your heart is sincere you wouldn't want to be doing thing to draw attention to yourself. It is very distracting to others who might not be there spiritually.
