Your feelings are normal. I see you say you are "half white, half hispanic." Then you speak about your Nicaraguan hispanic heritage. However, you don't say what your "half white" heritage is. Is it because the "white" part is many other different cultures/races, i.e., are you maybe a bit of Irish, English, Scottish, etc.? Most "white" people are a little bit of this and a little bit of that, with a dash of something else thrown in, in other words, Heinz 57. I think you are lucky to know at least 1/2 of your ethnic heritage. My kids say, "What are we, Mom?" And, I can't really answer them with total certainty because, while we are white looking, we have a whole lot of mixtures in our blood. However, my father was German, from both German parents, so I am 1/2 German and my children are 1/4 German. But, the other 3/4, according to my mother and my ex-husband is a little bit of Native Indian, bit of Scottish, bit of English, and my grandfather always said, "Who knows who else was in the woodpile!" Ha!
I think you should consider the person here who encouraged you to look into your Nicaraguan heritage and try to learn some Spanish. Take pride in who you are - learn a bit about Nicaragua and try to trace some of your ancestors there.
Enjoy your uniqueness!

You are UNIQUE: it never has been another one like you, nor it will ever be ! That should be enough for you... About belonging to a race or the other... Do you feel so much the need for a label? I don't think so... May be it would be a good idea to get in touch with your Nicaraguan heritage... After all, IT IS part of you ! And try also to learn Spanish... You may surprise yourself, not only by loving the language, but also by manifesting a natural talent to it... Who knows!? But, wouldn't you like to try?... Get in touch with both cultures and learn to balance them both. Think as you have the BEST of both worlds, OK? Take care and... Adiós !...;)

Ive heard it said that eventually, there will be so much interracial
marriage that there will be no races...we will all be one.
In that sense, you are ahead of the game. I also think that you have done both families a service by allowing more possibilities for genetics to express themselves.
I think you should learn about both of your backgrounds and embrace them both, but certainly not at the expense of what you are not. I think you should see all men as brothers--and you are in a unique position to do just that.

All persons are confused in their search for identity. You would feel the same way no matter what your ethnicity is.

people are people. these cultural boundaries are just words people make up to categorize. 200 years ago, "white" people used to even divide themselves between "protestants" and "those damn irish/italians/whatever".
you are not white. you are not hispanic. you are you. you are you and that's more than good enough.
forget about it.
