Your life after death depends on what you believe here and now. If you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you will want to do all you can to bring betterment to the Kingdom that is here now. If you deny Him, chances are you might not see anything but chaos and confusion. Perhaps you'll have a view of Heaven and wish to be there. We'll all know when the time comes.
Before birth is trickier. I once heard a little girl tell her parents that she helped bring them together so she could be born. Anything is possible. However, I am not a believer in reincarnation so past lives are out for me. :)

The Spirit World.
In the spirit world we live our true life; it is there that our souls are in their normal life. The sojourn in the physical realm is always a transitory state. Compared to the splendor of spirit life, it is the earthly journey that resembles conventional notions of death. For the spirit, the physical body is really no more than a gross covering that binds it to the earth, and of which it is happy to be free. The respect we give the dead, then, isn't inspired by the physical envelope, but out sentiments for the departed soul.

According to the scripture we were created from the rib of man, the Lord gave us life. He breathed life into us.
After we die we are ashes given back to the earth, but our spirit lives on with the Lord, even if our body is gone we can have everlasting life with the Lord. If we live according to his word.

Truthfully, we do not know. There is no way to know. Bibles and other good books say there is an afterlife in "heaven" but there is no and can be no proof of that.
