This person has failed his classes ,and cannot pass them.He is trying so hard and he is worry he is going to Irag, without his education. He had to sign a paper stating that if he does not pass he is going to IRAg, without his education. This person is only 18 years old.Does he has any rights not to go, if he does not pass????

as long as he's trying very hard to pass his tests, they will continue to work with him, but ultimately he may end up sent to the Fleet Undesignated. That is NOT a free ticket to Iraq, however. that just means he'll get sent to deck divison on a ship and be stuck chipping and painting. HOWEVER, while Undesignated, he can request to strike for a rating and eventually get another school.

Regardless of where he ends up, he will NOT be sent anywhere without proper training. This includes the litterbox. While we do have a significant number of Naval personnel over there in Individual Augmentation roles, it's not like he'll get sent there and left to fend for himself.

He does have a contract. he can't just weasel out of it becasue he's failing A school. That contract only promises him the chance to go, not that they will give him unlimited opportunities to pass.

Besides, My guess is the Iraq threat is just that.. a scare tactic to get him to buckle down and work harder.

Unless you have spoken to a Navy Recruiter already, taken the ASVAB and have the contract to be a HM be prepared not to be one. You are a female, currently the Female side of HM is overmanned so they are allowing only a few each year or not allowing them at all. This includes both medical and dental sides. Because you are female if for some reason you do get HM you will not necessarily be on the Marine side unless in dental or a specific division where you can be stationed at a Hospital on a Marine base. Standardly only males are allowed to go to the FMF as you can be deployed with them. Women are not allowed in combat where Marines go. I do know 2 ladies that do work at Marine bases one in a hospital the other in a dental clinic so you can be stationed there, you just can't be stationed with a Marine Unit itself.

Suck IT UP. You signed the dotted line. Be a man and finish your contract. You knew the chance of going to IRAQ when you signed the papers. I know your scared But think about it. Why would they send someone who has failed a important course to IRAQ. As far as school all that is, is a motivational tool they use to get you to do your best. Even if you fail the course if in your heart you have done your very best than you never fail. Keep the faith and Gods Speed.

You have no rights in the military. Period. And its iraQ. Mental illness will get you chaptered out, or drugs. Why would they send someone from the Navy to Iraq anyway... its landlocked, right? Anyway, I'm sure they put you guys out there just for fun. But if your stupid and cant pass tests they wont send you anywhere...why would they send incompetent people? I think its funny that they would try to motivate you to do better by telling you you wont have to go to Iraq. You go where your commander and thief tells you to go.

I hate to say this, but he signed on the dotted line. He is in the Navy. If he doesn't finish his school, or continually fails they will cross train him into another career field. Regardless if he completes is training or not, he may end up in Iraq, and no he doesn't have the right to refuse. He signed on the dotted line.

The military is in the business of war.

If he goes to Iraq, which he surely will, most likely he will not be on the front lines, he will be swabbing the deck of an aircraft carrier in the Persian Gulf.

the military is still stuck on the gay issue. i would suggest that this person start showing signs that he is possibly gay. i seen lots of soldiers get the boot in tripler army medical center in hawaii shortly after clinton did the don't ask don't tell thingy.

Send him to Iraq to do what exactly?

I think you're overreacting. If he fails they will, I guess, send him to the fleet and make a Boatswain's Mate out of him.

And he will be fine, ma'am.
