there are already plenty of blood donations without offering cash, unlike at sperm banks or plasma centers. however there are rare blood types that are often in demand. i would think it would be smart to offer some cash during these low supply times for rare blood types.

i believe that we should not be paid because we are donating the blood. after we donate the blood it is checked and the blood is stored in a refrigerator which all unfortunately costs money. however i also believe that since it was donated it should be for 'free'.

Atleast this should not be a mode of trading.Infact ,a person should not sing about donating blood or look for the returns attached to it

We usually say "BLOOD DONATION" but not "BLOOD SALE", which is self explanatory. Moreover, we donate blood at our own decision in view of saving life of the recipient, because of our kindness or attachment to that person. Thus it becomes a NOBLE JOB and NOBLE JOBS have no appriate value. This is priceless and should not be degraded by rating in currency. I think the recipient as well his/her relatives will pay the donour by way of thanks, love and affection, more than in currency.

NOBLE PEOPLE AND NOBLE JOBS ARE PRICELESS.

I know in Las Vegas they pay people to donate blood. You should see the line, mainly of people who have lost all their money and trying to scrimp some together to go home.

ditto. Now, in impoverished areas of south africa, where it would incite donors and enhance their way a life a bit (monetarily) then maybe yes, but technically, it would no longer be a donation.

Sure - if there's places that are willing to pay then they should be allowed to. Plus it gets more people out there giving blood. Win - Win situation, yes?
