I keep my hair in a very short style, clippered up the back and sides and full on top. It is easier to keep and much cooler. Some people, men especially, seem to have a problem with this. Does anyone have any thoughts?

It is a confidence thing. Women who step out of the "norm" of having longer hair really must be relaxed in who they are. They tend to be more independent and know exactly what they want, which can seriously put some men out on a limb. I have always had a very short pixie cut and it does sometimes put men off, but then they are not the kind of men I would want to be around. My husband has never had a problem with my hair. He says to tell you it shows off your face and smile that much better. Which is what men should be seeing not your haircut.

Society's view of women is stereotypical with females having long hair. Being a woman and having short hair similar to men is intimidating because it's something most males aren't used to. The same goes for men with long hair. Personally, I believe woman with short hair have higher confidence and self-esteem.

It's all simply a matter of personal preference. I actually have short hair and guys like it. And i prefer a guy with short hair over a person with long hair because long tresses tends to make guys look also girly.

I just got my hair cut short for the same reasons, but I have not noticed this. If I had to guess it's because guys usually like longer hair, some kind of fantasy or something. Maybe they are afraid of us!!

It's not intimidated so much as turned off. The short hairstyle isn't extactly feminine in most cases, and for guys, this is a bit off-putting.

The short hairstyle is something that can be pulled off by only a certain kind of woman. When they do it, it looks fantastic, but most others... it comes out looking really odd, or worse, bulldyke-ish.

People proceed is as you're probably a lesbian, because the manly-type lesbians tend to keep their hair that way. And it could also be by the way you dress, if you dress poorly they think wrong, but if you dress in a very feminine way then they wouldn't be intimidated by you.

I think some women look better with short hair. I think it's sexy. Maybe the men you know assume your a lesbian. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

It sounds unconventional. Some people are thrown off by
any style that appears to be making an individual statement.
It may look butch and confuses them. It's been my experience,
that guys do like long hair.

If you like it, wear it that way.

I just did the same thing myself and I get more compliments from men now than I did when my hair was longer. But, I have noticed that men seem to prefer long hair.

I guess in general women with short hair are tend to look less feminine and very independent than the long-haired one.
