I've tired cutting off fluids at 6PM as well but that is not working because most of the time, he still is wet by morning. I also try to make him up in the middle of the night but he is so much in a deep sleep that he acts like he is in a comatose. I know the deep sleeping is the problem because he can't feel the sensation that he should get you get when you have to go. What can I do to make him sleep lighter so he can recognize the urge?

Don't worry, he'll soon develop and won't go into that habit. Give him some more time and soon he won't have to wet the bed.

My sister wet the bed till she was much older than that. My mom set her alarm for midnight to make her get up and go but she didn't hear and and I, in another room did. I'd go wake her up and make her go. She's 19 now and grew out of it years ago. She was still occasionally doing it in middle school. Your son may grow out of this but you should probably take him to the doctor and see if they can do anything for him. If you haven't already put a plastic sheet under the sheets to protect the mattress. I wouldn't try to make him sleep lighter I'd think that could give him sleeping trouble later. Sleeping soundly is a good thing.

I am going through the same problem with my 9 year old son. We received some medication from the doctor to help with the sleeping, but they made him very lethargic so we stopped using them. Sorry, I can't remember what the name of the meds were, it has been a couple of years but you may ask your doctor about it, it worked well for us just the side effects we did not like. We also tried a hormone replacement in pill form. They did us no good. I hear the nasal spray form works better but we have not tried that yet. Good luck!

Don't worry too much. Alot of kids wet the bed at night. Our 5 yr old does the same thing. As long as he's potty trained during the day the nighttime wetting will eventually pass. Good luck, your not alone in this.

Believe it or not bed-wetting can be a result of some phsycological problems, shown in recent studies, now I'm not a pssycologist, nor do I know your sons lifestyle and enviroment. Although he is still young, and the mentioned studies were more on 9-12 year olds, I still recommend seeking professional help.

Don't stress over it. My son wet the bed till he was 12 or so years old. Just be patient. Don't shame him and make sure you do your part such as making him wee just before he goes to bed. No drink after supper.
Put some pull ups on him/
My older brothers wet the bed till they were 15 or 16. My mother wasn't as calm as I was about it. She used to scream and throw a fit. She shamed my brothers. IT was a farce.

You wake him up enough that he can say words to you, then get him to pee. If you have to aim him, then so be it. But wake him up enough that he knows to pee. My son is a heavy sleeper too.I stopped liquids for him after 5:30 and woke him up aty 10:00 when I went to bed for 1 more pee. It didn't take long before he was keeping himself dry. He is now 6 and can sleep dry through the night without a wake-up. But I still cut off liquids for all my kids after 5:30. One small drink is allowed after teeth brushing, but that's it.

I'm not super familiar with the subject, so you may want to check the link below. I do know, though, they have products out there that you place on the bed (similar to a mattress pad) that will sound off if it gets wet. This alerts the child that he/she has wet the bed.

Well I had the same problem...I tried the waking up late evening technique and luckily it worked.
I know you can buy a bed wetting device that fits on their bed that wakes them up if they just start to urinate...apparently it works quite well. Maybe ask the paediatrician.
