I know that many on YAnswers are young & inexperienced. I also know that some strictly use YAnswers for "entertainment" purposes.
However, I am still amazed at the blatant racism, rudeness, & general stupidity of the average user.
Out of MILLIONS of YAnswer'er's I know about 25 people that would be interesting & decent to converse with if I met them for coffee. ISN'T THAT amazing??? (lol)
What do you think? Is there a deficit of "manners" in YAnswer's?

"JIM" your answer is valid & noteworthy (albeit, cluttered with "10 dollar words"). I'll make you a "bet". When you get to level 4, I'll WAGER that you will understand ,with greater "clarity", my opinion , in regards to "manners" in YAnswer's. Good luck!

FYI: If you are reading this Q, you are currently IN the "American" version of YAnswer's. Go to the bottom of the screen & you can change to other countries. Does this mean that ONLY Americans can answer? NOOOOO
However, as an experiment, I think everyone should check out mmmmm Australia YAnswers . ??? See what you think? Or perhaps France?
Are Americans showing MORE or LESS courtesy and "manners" than other countries?

Oh Jim, Jim, Jim. Drop the Thesaurus and have a little fun. You're here to be entertained . . . and until you've read the truly stupid answers, like "hahahaha I just answered a question and got 2 points!" (over and over again) you won't know what this question is about. Or better yet, why don't you wander into a question about religion and watch the rudeness FLY!!!!!!
You bet there's racism, rudeness and stupidity -- probably more so than not. And yes, it is amazing that there aren't nicer people in here. The same can be said about the REAL WORLD.
On the other hand, there ARE a few polite people who lend a helping Answers and extend their kindness to those in need. But we must remember. . .
THIS IS A COMPUTER -- it's a safe place to be rude and stupid for those who wish to be.
Oh, and why are those Australians so darn polite? That's a good question.

I would most definitely have to agree with you!
I have just recently begun using YahooAnswers (just today) and some of the things I have read are .....something short of embarrassing.
To think that many people are satisfied with some of the things they write before they hit that "Submit" button is dumbfounding. Part of me is surprised and part of me figures just as you did, that there are many young kids that find being rude, disrespectful and ignorant entertaining.
On the other hand, I give a huge deal or respect to those who choose to ask away when they don't know something and would like to (although I haven’t found too many of those people) . Asking an honest question should never be frowned upon.
And some of us wonder why other countries dread American tourists coming to their countries.....They're probably reading many of the "indecent" comments those select few call "entertainment".
Thanks for asking a question that requires a thought process. Really.

Your question is crudely constructed and your personal observations only obliquely relevant, my dumb friend.
People from around the world come onto this site, not only Americans, you know.
Did you really evaluate millions of people to narrow your potential coffee companions down to only twenty-five? How swift and unerring your judgment must be!
Yes, unfortunately there is a dearth of courtesy, integrity, dignity and respect on this site. But I think the people who demonstrate the lack of these qualities most clearly are very much in the minority. If you look at the answers rather than the questions, you might agree.
And remember, it's better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. So, set us an example of courtesy and intelligence--we await your leadership!

Certainly so. I will be using that Report Abuse button much more often from now on. The Yahoo Answer society has become infested with too many users who are here for "silly entertainment" purposes. Yahoo answers has the potential of becoming one of the highlights of our century if it weren't for these people. I think everyone should join me in an effort to purge Yahoo answers. I know this seems drastic, but I expect that soon, Yahoo answers will become just another forum with tons of silly topics and even more ridiculous answers, and all the good material will be obscured by the ocean of "blatant racism, rudeness, & general stupidity"

state-of-the-paintings how? They comprehend what fork to apply at a dinner celebration? As a instructor, I do imagine that education is extra significant in Europe and Asia than the following in the States. we've a variety of of tutorial opportunities the following, yet we do not cost education. i have experienced that really a lot each and every thing is extra significant than coming to school commonly used or doing homework. i have had youngsters not come to school to have a good time Elvis' birthday! What do you advise by using "extra ignorant?" there are a selection of ignorant Europeans and Asians. As for faith, i imagine Asians are very desirous about faith. extra, what's incorrect with being keen on non secular themes?

You and I have crawled along with some great questions? We have had our share of greatness, sadness, rudeness, very stupid and very not so average.
Now look at it this way. When you are a Sophomore the Seniors look great. But when you look back at those in coming Freshmen you see OMG those are so stupid, ( I agree with the rudeness) but over all the quality of questions now are changing, like us.
We wont put up with the rudeness, blatant racism, over all the stupid nor the general idiot.. REPORT~REPORT~REPORT
So as we say farewell to Kevin, Ivana, Miss Nurse,(not sure if she is coming back) and all those that I don't know and who have left for what ever reasons.
Q&A will miss them, but we will not forget them.
Q&A is what we make of it. With everyone doing there part to follow the giued lines and respect all that come here, report what is not right and enjoy....That is what it is all about.

Yes many young people today have no care for society, how they're making the rest of us look and stuff like that. But I myself am young (18 years) so I hope you don't stereotype lol. I still find myself shaking my head at times to some of the questions, but in the end you just have to ignore it. What else I have noticed is that people come on here looking for an easy answer to questions that simply CAN'T be answered by another person. But best not to dwell. Enjoy your coffee lol

There are a lot of young people who have yet to experience anything in life other than high school drama and first crushes. You know, it is a huge melting pot in here -- there are idiots, intelligent people, there are 14-year-old girls with first time periods. I suppose we should give the simple minded people a break, because it DOES make this place interesting, to say the least. And Miss. Chatea is right, that is exactly what reporting is for, for the simple minded idiots.

Hmm? I'm fairly new to this forum having just discovered it so I havent' had a chance to view enough questions and answers to formualte an opinion about the 'average' Yahoo! Answers user. Your question however does beg another, how many questions and answers have you read? Ten, one hundered, one thousand? You allude to 'millions' of answers, I doubt you've read that many! Is it enough to make such a qualitatitve statement about the average user? Further, your subjective disparagement of the 'average' user as racist, rude and stupid exhibits those same traits that seem to pique you so. Is there a deficit of manners in Yahoo! Answer's? Look no farther than yourself friend.

I think a lot of it has to do with anonymity. It's easier for people to be rude and racist to a bunch of faceless strangers, knowing they'll never personally interact with them and, therefore, never have any real repercussions. Some other reasons are boredom and lack of social skills. People rely so much on their computers for taking care of everyday tasks and for entertainment. They're world has been narrowed down to the size of a computer monitor and that is very sad!
