Depending on how severe your depression is you may want to seek medical treatment. But you should realize you are not alone. Depression affects millions of people of all backgrounds, regardless of monetary wealth, and even situations. There are some people who look like they are doing so well, and secretly they have battles with depression.
If you are depressed over a situation that has happened, this may be normal. You should try to change that situation if you can, or if you can't change it maybe learn to accept it.
If you seem to be persistently depressed, this might be an indication you have a depressive personality, and you may need to do some research to learn about yourself and how to deal with things.
My wife was depressed and she now takes antidepressants. I can tell you they changed her life, in that they allowed her to feel "normal" for the first time.
Good luck.

What form of Depression are you suffering from , a loss of something or someone, or something else . There are many forms of depression so if you are not more specific there's not much information I can give you . There are many web sites on depression I suggest you look them up . I too suffer from depression, and I am taking the steps to take care of this sometimes overwhelming problem. Have you tried going to your local Mental Health Facility in your area . They can do a world of good for you ,.all you have to do is ask for the help . I did and it's the best thing I ever did for myself and the people that love me. Really if you are depressed enough that it is interfearing with your personal relationships or School or your job or life in general get the help. It's out there believe me LOTS OF LUCK TO YOU and TAKE CARE V.

If you are chronically depressed you might have a chemical imbalance in the brain. If so, something like Prozac might help.
If it's not chronic than talking to a counselor might be the best thing for you. In any event you need to see a doctor to get this sorted out.
Please do something. You do not need to suffer like this.

Like some of the above answers, it depends on the type of depression you are suffering from. I can only speak to major recurrent depression. (my diagnosis a few years ago). My therapy began with drugs. After trying at least eight, with no satisfactory results, I found help from this book:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0452281326/002-5525142-5851244?redirect=true&v=glance&n=283155
Read how it helped me here:

Maybe, do you want to be helped?
"So times your ahead, some times your behind, the race is long and in the end it's only with yourself"
I like to think of that quote from time to time, it helps me to focus my life and direction.
