It seems to me that every religion has begun under the pretenses of provinding a ground work for providing four things. First a structure for people to live a sound and moral existance (admirable). Secondly to provide anwers to the unknown (ehhhh alright...fine). Third, to lay the ground work for societies by distributing power to single individuals or from the single individuals (ancient greece and egypt) to the people not entitled to that power (christianity, judaism, islam) (Less admirable). And finally to tell people what to think (wtf).

You mean like when Pat Robertson stands up with the spiritual light of Christ all around him and calls for the murder of Hugo Chavez...

Gee maybe you're on to something.....

I don't really think an individual's faith and spirituality is benefited by the lemming like conformity required by religiosity.

You poor deluded child. Excuse the beginning statement. I am tired. I have been answering what seems like the same question over and over again. I, actually, agree with you to a point. It seems that way, but is not really. Although, I must say it can be terribly disappointing sometimes when there are some "Christians" who use their faith as a political stratagem.

In America we are taught to have faith in Gods works, not mens constructs. Thats why in the real world we have inspectors and codes that have to be followed in order for others to use what we construct. By the way, do you know that God also has an inspector? We here call it the Holy Ghost, other countries call it Karma.

It is true that the general porpouse of the religion is to control people. But imagine what will happen if someone prove that God does not exist :):):)

Or

People just need something to believe in. From the Dawn of Humanity. First they believe in the power of Nature. Their Gods were thunder, water, fire even woods, stones.
Today it is just God because of the science. But the common is they just need something to believe in :):):)

Religions are and were invented by men who wanted to be God.

According to the book of mythology (bible) all religions are evil.

My Faith is in Jesus. He is the one who saved me, and supplies my needs. He is the one i put my Faith and Trust in. Not religion.
