I know I am going to heaven because i have accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I love him so much. I can tell Him anything and I know He will be listening. I know He loves me more then I can ever imagine. I know He'll protect me. I'm going to spend eternity with him. What the heck is to be scared of? If its my choice to love Jesus and follow him, then I go to heaven, right? I fear my dad because he yells at me if I do something bad. I'm not trying to sound sarcastic, but I've sinned and I never heard God yell at me. Yes, I've felt alot of guilt. But the bible says by accepting Jesus into your heart, you will be rewarded with eternal salvation, nothing more, nothing less. When you follow Jesus you would have to be sinnless, righteous. How are you righteous if you continue sinning? How do you go to heaven if you are not righteous? If you are, in fact, righteous, why would you fear God?
I am a christian but this just confuses me and i don't know what to believe. What is loving God?

Good question! Fearing God isn't like being afraid of some mean super-bully who's going to sock you one. It's a spirit of regarding the Almighty, Most Holy, Most High God with complete worshipful submission, reverence, and awe. I think it actually draws you closer to Him and makes it easier to love Him, unlike the earthly kind of fear which blocks love.
Blessings to you!

If heaven was filled with only people who had never sinned, there would not be anyone there. Every human (including you!) has sinned at some time. Jesus is forgiving and not to be feared but loved. People try to instil fear of God into their children to make them behave, and they pass that on to THEIR children and so on until the original reason is forgotten. Think for yourself, if you feel a lot of guilt maybe you've done something wrong, but maybe someone has just made you think that way. We all sin at times because we're people not gods! Do good for it's own sake not out of fear of anyone or any god. You'll be OK . Be happy.

Please, indulge me. Why do we put Jesus before God??
Why do I have to fear God in the first place????
He is supposed to be all loving right? I don't get it. If God is all loving, why would He create this thing, you people keep calling hell? Hell is an illusion that we create here on earth for ourselves. As well as the illusion of heaven. If we are living rightly and selflessly towards our fellows then we have nothing to fear and are living in a heavenly state of being One with One another. On the flipside if we are living in a state of selfish hate and greed, we will create a hell for ourselves thereby fearing each other and ourselves and ultimately the God that has been twisted into this hateful, vengeful creature that those who want to dominate others have created.

I hear what you are saying about the whole yelling thing. But truly who among us goes one whole day without commiting a sin as the writers of the bible(s) would have us believe in sin??
It's all a farce. Just love everyone as you would be loved and it will all be okay.

And trust me, I am not the One, not yet. I was cussing at folks on the freeway about an hour ago. But I'm getting better, I didn't flip anyone off. :o)

It's not the kind of fear you get from something that's big and mean and going to eat you, it's a different kind of fear. More of a respect for something that you know created you and can do anything He wants because he's in charge of the universe.

It isn't about fear. God does not want you to fear him, he want you to choose to love him. The all knowing is well aware that people are going to sin. But when we sin and no longer care about it, that is when God is bothered. We are not perfect, we are not supposed to be. But we are supposed to try, try each day to walk the right path. Don't worry about what others say, in your heart you seem to know what it true.

Fear means to respect God and honor Him for who He is.

Open up your heart and mind, feel the spirit of the holy ghost and let go of these questions that cloud you`re spirit. It is called faith after all.

I do not fear a being in whose existence I don't believe. I am not going to a place in whose existence I don't believe.

This is because we are all god's children, regardless of what god you believe in. As his children... as with all children, we have the love of our father even if he is not always there for us.
