when contractions start and all you get is sedatives for the first 12 hours of labor (out of 25) it's a freaking 50.
After the sweet sweet epidural it's a 1.
When they take it dow a notch for the pushing, eh maybe a 3.
Getting those tiny yet humongous head and shoulders out your pee-pee hole 20.
afterwards, seeing that sweet little stained wrinkled face you just brought into your life.......... - 10000000000000000000000000000 (that's a very negative number ladies)
I honestly don;t remember much of the pain because for the worse part I was sedated a delirious.

I enjoyed every moment of being pregnant. I wish I could be pregnant forever. It is so wonderful and beautiful. The experience is different for everyone, but everyone I know says that it was worth it...and I absolutely agree. There is nothing in the world like feeling your child move inside your belly and watching your belly grow. As for labor and delivery, that wasn't bad either. I took it with a grain of salt, I had to do it, why stress and panic about it? I thought of it as I did everything else I had to do...I had to pee everyday, I had to eat, go to work, sleep, and give birth. It was not bad at all. I would do it again in a heartbeat.
I know most people don't believe that you can be as easy going about labor and delivery as I was...but I honestly was, and I'm so glad. It really made things A LOT easier. The more you stress, panic and worry, the worse it's going to be. Try to relax, and picture yourself going through it. Do you want to be freaking out while your bringing your beautiful baby into the world? Probably not.
Try to stay as calm about it as you can, and when you begin to have contraction pain that is too uncomfortable to you ask the doctor for an epidural. It will help take a way the pain, and it will also help you relax and move your labor along faster. If you want to try to go natural...go for it. I waited as long as I could for the epidural because I wanted to go without, but it just didn't happen...and that's OK.
Remember that every woman, pregnancy, labor, and delivery is diferent. Talk to your doctor and ask all of the questions you have...you'll feel better and more prepared.
I wish you peace, luck, health, and happieness.
Good Luck!!

Well its very painful. Before i gave birth to my first child my mom said the labor pains were like cramps that hurt 100 times more than you ever would imagine. An then she proceeded to say that the pushing part and crowning part was bad as well. She described it as being on fire or like a ring of fire around your vaginal area. I don't mean to scare you but she was totally correct. The funny thing was as soon as my son was out the pain was completely gone. Plus the arrival made me almost instantly forget. If your worried about it talk to your doc about an epidural for the pain. There's nothing wrong with a little help. I hope i have been some help.

I would say maybe a 3. There are many things in life that I have found to be much more painful. I would suggest getting a spinal or epidural. These are godsends, and will help with pain so nicely. I was in labor for almost 24 hours, in pain for maybe an hour after the doctor broke my water, and pushed for about 30 minutes.

I have a pretty high tolerance level, but since I was induced, I had a rather difficult labor. I would say an eight. I had an epidural and after that is was certainly tolerable.
It is definitely the easiest to forget pain in the world. And the most worthwhile to endure.

I would have to say about 3 with 1 being lowest and 10 being highest. I didn't have an epidural but I did have demerol! Surprisingly I didn't want the epidural although I had signed up for it. My labor didn't hurt hardly at all with the demerol. I slept through most of my labor!

As the head is crowning..about a 500 !!!! I have had one baby with pain relief (Pethidine) and two babies without any pain relief and all three felt much the same. It hurts but it is the kind of pain that you know with each contraction brings you closer to actually seeing your baby, and is gone the minute the baby is out. It is a productive kind of pain.
Now gallbladder pain..that ranks so much higher on my scale!

With 1 being the lowest?? There is no number to represent the amount of pain you will feel. It is like having cramps and gas pains rolled into one only about 1000 times worse.
epidural - no pain
Go for the epidural you will really like that stuff. Its great.

with 1 being the lowest. For me it was a 2. That was with just gas and air, vaginal birth with twins.
Every labour and delivery is different. If you need pain releif, then have pain releif. If you want/need a c-section then have a c-section, but they take longer to recover from.
