Loved airports so much I joined the Air Force and went into airport management!
When I was a kid I used to go to Logan airport in Boston with my grandfather. We'd go up to the observation deck in the control tower and watch things for hours on end.
About midway through my AF career, I was retrained into Airfield Management. I eventually became the Airfield Manager and was totally in my glory! Most amazing job I've EVER had!

ME! I finally got to fly on a trip at 50 years old, my first time in a plane except for once in mid 1960's when my dad and I rode in a 4-seater from the local airport to see the last stage of the St Louis Arch being built. The windows were open in the plane, and it was fabulous! I have taken people to and picked people up from the airport many times though, and love to watch planes coming and going. We used to have an outdoor observation deck right there at the runway at St. Louis Lambert Airport, and it was wild to watch the take offs and landings. You could wave to the people and they would wave back. People would actually bring their families as a fun thing to do for awhile, and some would stay for hours. They closed it down though when new regulations changed all that. You can't even go down the concourses to watch the planes that closely from inside anymore. But - yes, I am a huge airport fan!

I live right next to an airport now and have always loved watching planes come in and out, all low. An airport is one of those incredibly unique places in each town where (low-)flying buildings are the norm and the sky is the limit. Quite beautful, really.
Airports, in my opinion, have always had a very sophisticated look and a general symbol of internationalism, even world unity ..very cool.

why so many question marks son???? I feel the same as you do about airports, and i think you'll find millions who do. I especially like the tax-free area, because it feels like neutral country and so much do buy for so cheap! well not all of it is cheap, but anyway the idea is wonderful. It is an interesting place with lotsa interesting people... also perhaps the feeling of flying away, escaping one's past ... good feeling

I like it very, very much but only if I'm about to fly, otherwise it's like going to the beach and just staring at the sea.
Every time I went to the airport and didn't flew I was so envy of those inside each plane.
