I'm the kinda guy that jokes about everyone and kinda gives them a hard time, but when it comes to meeting girls, i'm really shy. i can always think of a million romantic things to say, a little joke or an invitation, but i can never come up with a way to start things off. if i just walk up to her i'm afraid i'd be disturbing or interupting her, or that she'd think i was wierd. how would you like a random guy to start talking to you?

If you can catch her eye, smile first and look friendly. If she looks away it might just be because she's a bit shy but keep and eye on her to see if she sneaks a look back! If she smiles and looks receptive to you then don't worry about 'interrupting' her.
Just start with a hello then make a comment about something off the wall thats going on around you or ask for her opinion on something funny like 'See that tree over there? I think it looks like the back of Bart Simpsons head but my friend says i'm seeing things. What do you think?'
It takes the pressure off and makes her laugh. If she rolls her eyes and says 'Whatever' then say 'Damn!' I have to find someone who agrees!' and leave with your dignity intact. If she laughs and gets into the joke then yay! success! good luck!

Well if I was in a coffee shop reading a book or magazine, you could come over and say I just finished reading that book, what do you think of it? Or if I just came out of the theatre you could ask what I thought of the movie, ASK a question....if you are in the laundramat ask a cute woman how to separate your clothes. If you are on the street ask for directions. Even if you know where you are going it's an ice breaker, it gives you something to talk about for at least 60 seconds and opens the door for a bit more.
Beats the hell outta "Hi, my name's Herbert" LOL

This might sound way too simple, but you need to try and be yourself. Rather than spending all of your energy trying to be funny or sound smart with a snappy lead line, just relax and talk to her like you would when you talk to a person that you like and respect. Ask her questions about herself, look at her and listen when she answers you. Don't come across as needy or desperate. Just be friendly and attentive. If you want to make a little joke it's okay. Girls usually really like guys that make them laugh!

It depends on the situation. If you are at a club you should ask her if you could buy her a drink. Simply introducing yourself is also a good move. Asking a girl anything about her and listening to her response will definately score points. Cheesy lines don't work. Trust me.
