Has he been checked for milk allergies? My daughter was allergic to all milk products, and had the same reactions.

My son used to have night terrors, this is an awful thing and people just do not understand. My son was a little older though when he used to wake up screaming and screaming and said that he had had a bad dream. He was usually sweating and crying, I just did not know what to do.
I used to wrap him in a blanket and take him into the garden to cool down a bit, then just comfort him and pray with him until he felt better then he would go back to bed again and sleep fine. But it happened a lot and I was really concerned.
Eventually he just grew out of it, he is 23 now and is fine.
I don't know what the answer is, but just comfort him and DONT let him read any ghost stories or any occult stories. There are lots of nice stories about and be careful what he watches on the TV too just be careful what you are feeding his mind with, it is just as important as what you are feeding his body with.
Hope that this is helpful.

It's not colic or night terrors... I have an almost 2 year old. It's actually separation anxiety... his doctor explained it. Your son is going through another separation anxiety stage, babies and children go through several with different levels of frustration bor both of you. The reason he's waking up in the middle of the night crying is because he awakens in the dark and doesn't know where you are. What we do for our son is go in his room and take him out of the crib. We hug him, change him if needed, and lay him back down with his plushie, cover him up, and wind up one of his musical plushies. He just lays down, and relaxes, and goes to sleep right after. Make sure the room is fresh and he has a sheet or light blanket to cover himself. Many times our son would wake up crying becasue he felt cold but couldn't figure out how to get his covers on. He'd literally fall asleep as soon as we covered him up... Just a thought... as I'm sure you'll get plenty of replies suggesting therapy or some nonesense... Anyway, if it is more serious than just removing or adding the obvious from his routine, then ask your doctor, your son might have other problems that you may not be aware of.

I don't understand what the Colic has to do with the night terrors but is there a possiblity that your child has made this a habit?? My daughter wanted to sleep with us so she would wake up about one in the morning and then tell us she was scared so she could sleep with us. If this is what is happening you are going to have to stick to your guns and make him sleep in his own bed. If not then I'm sorry I wasted your time. Good Luck.

My son is going threw the same thing. The sad part is that there really is nothing you can do except for be there with him if he wakes up. You don't want to wake him during the terror as it will cause allot of disorientation, confusion and it may cause him to get even worse. Its so hard but i find that if you go for a walk or help him expend energy before bedtime as well as give him a long warm bath they are more relaxed during sleep. It doesn't always work but its worth a try. Good luck and try to get some rest your self.

I have 3 sons (7,6, & 2) and they were all very different babies. My oldest and my youngest had colic VERY badly, but my middle one didn't at all. And ALL 3 of my sons have suffered from night terrors at about this age. I get up with them give them a glass of water or milk tell them it is going to be okay, and I rocked them back to sleep. (With my oldest, he was getting me up 3-4 times a night.) They out grow it with time. It was like one night they slept through the night and it continued from then on.
Good luck

i used to think my 2 year old was having night terrors as that was what most of the medical profession told us. But when this continued for over a year and we moved to a different area we seen another doctor who said it could be more than that. So we were referred to see a nuerologist for a eeg and it was not night terrors but a form of epilepsy. Just dont be so sure if things continue it cant hurt to get him checked.

I can relate to the night terrors. My eldest suffered them for a number of years. Firstly, don't even try to wake him up. I tried it with my daughter and it freaked her out..in her mind I became a part of her dream and she tried to kick and claw at me. You can sit on the bed and try to soothe him with your words but it is not a normal dream that you can waken them from. Good luck to you with that. My daughter scared the living daylights out of me with night terrors..lol..but thankfully she outgrew it somewhere around age five.
See your GP about the colic though, perhaps your child has an intolerance to some foods, but you will likely need medication rather than just our advice. Good luck with both issues.

i would really check out if he is lactose intolerable. my 2 nephews and niece are all lactose intolerable and was thought to be colic but turned out to be very bad tummy aches from milk allergy, as soon as they were switched to soya based formula the "so called colic" ended. so many people have this condition and kids quite often grow out of it with age. no matter what the age, it is very painful. try experimenting with his diet by cutting out all dairy products for a day and see what happens. it's worth a try!! good luck.

My daughter did the same thing. I just woke her up, comforted her, she never remembered. Then she started sleep walking in the night terrors, kinda scary, I was afraid she would wonder outside but she never did...i tied her to me on a camping trip tho, haha.
