I do not have any kids... and ahh Santa hate to say is dead. Just as the Space Shuttle burned up... Satan melted in the intense heat and died in the atmosphere from the weight of his sliegh and the speed by which he traveled to get all those toys to all the homes of good little boys and girls.

I'm not a Christian, but I'm going to toss in my experience with both Christians and atheists. I've heard from a number of Christian moms at my son's school that they will not lie to their children about any of the fictional characters because when the kids find out they're not real, they might question the existence of God and Jesus. (To which my very Christian mom said, "Then their faith isn't that strong to begin with.")

Then there are the atheists on a few mailing lists I've been on who say they will not lie to their children about the existence of ANY fictional characters because lying to children is wrong and there's no other way to look at telling children that Santa is real. Many of these atheists have said they were traumatized as children when they learned that Santa and ToothFairy weren't real. I think, then, they've got other problems that believing or not believing won't solve, but that's my opinion. On top of that, they encourage their children to tell other kids that these characters aren't real and they have no bad feelings about that.

As for me, I believed in Santa until I was about 7 or 8 when a child on the playground made fun of me for believing in him... my innocence was shattered but my desire to believe was not. We do Santa, the Easter Bunny and will do the Tooth Fairy when the time comes and I gotta say, the joy on my son's face each year is worth whatever we have to deal with when he finds out they're not real.

Some kid on the playground was telling the other kids that the Easter Bunny isn't real... and my son just told him "You can believe whatever you want to believe... I believe he's real." My son is 6. I'm very proud of him. :-)

When he does find out Santa isn't real, I'll tell him what I believe... that "Santa" is alive in all of us in the way we treat others, being generous and unselfish, but it's just moreso during this particular season of giving. SO yes, Santa is very real... he's us.

No, my children all understand the truth about Santa, Easter Bunny, etc.

I do not want them to ever think that I am a hypocrite. I have 5 children, ages 3 - 13. They will remember what I have said, and my words will come back to haunt me.

I dont have kids and I don't have christian parents but I am.. All I can say is that christians are still humans and they are a work STILL in progress so it doesn't mean they are perfect...All humans should try to be a good example to their kids and they are family so they should know everything.. but it has to be at the right time and said in the right way...

The question should be can you prove unequivocally that Santa and the tooth fairy DON'T exist?

Christan parents lie all the time about the existance of god although it is not through nastiness merely conditioning over several generations.
