It could be his chapstick. Sometimes brothers like to really glob on the chapstick, or even vaseline to their lips. You could ask your boyfriend to go easy on the chapstick. But, if you find that you still have a weird coating on your lips after kissing, mention your concerns with him. He may need to visit his dentist.

If it's thick and smells gross, it may probably because he doesn't drink enough fluid throughout the day.

maybe because he dont brush properly and it is bacteria.
