Great question. Many people think they know the answer but do not. First of all the majority will say going to church means you are a Christian. Well i'm sorry to break the news to you but thats not it at all. To be a Christian you first need to believe that there truely is a God. Second of all you need to put all your faith in God. Make sure you always pray, but when you do pray actually mean what you say and not let it be a bunch of words every night. You also need to get forgiveness for your sins. Then it is a great thing to go to church, but if you do not it doesn't mean your not a Christian. If you think you have to would you care to show me it in the bible or tell me where to find it? Well I hope this helps.

There are many possible answers to this. It depends on the definition of “Christian” that you choose to examine. For example the title Christian is sometimes given to anyone that celebrates Christian holidays like Christmas.

For me, the most important definition of what it means to be a Christian is found in a personal surrender of ones life to the will of Christ as he or she recognizes Jesus to be God and the Christ (savior). I believe, based on my discernment of the bible that the following beliefs are fundamental to what it means to really be a Christian. A person can easily be considered to be a Christian if he or she can attest to the following:

Believe that Jesus is God’s son that proceeds from God the Father.
Acknowledge that everyone commits sins from time to time and no one is good enough do deserve the kingdom of heaven.
Believe that Jesus offered himself as a sacrifice for these sins when he was crucified.
Believe that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven.
Personally pray for forgiveness from sins and seek the will of God for your life and a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit of God.

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
(Words of Jesus Christ) John 14:6

Christians follow a set of beliefs stipulated by the Apostle Paul, or Saul as he was known to his parents, and their select religions. Its a catch-all term, used to appease those who claim spiritualness but don't take the time to think it out. As Jesus says, we cannot serve two masters who are different, and Saul is very different from Jesus, Saul teaches conformity to what used to be while Jesus teaches us to love others. That Saul uses the teachings of Jesus to further his conforming, fools many into imagining that they are almost the same, even to the point where some non-believers give Saul the power of inventing Jesus. So I am not a christian, I work at maintaining a relationship with God thru the power of Jesus and the Holy Ghost, which Saul never knew, at least he never mentions it in his 13 or so books attributed to him in the New Testament

A Christian is someone who follows Christ. Just believing that Christ exists does not make you a Christian. Satan believes in Jesus as well... so what would make one different than the devil? It takes a personal commitment and a change of heart to be a Christian. So being born into a Christian heritage is not enough.

Only walking in the very same path of our Lord will make us a Christian. To be a Christian you should live like Our Mighty Lord.Love is the most mighty weapon. It can tackle the most powerful atomic Bomb produced by mankind. This simple yet a complex phenomenon could be understood only if you have Christ in you. Love one another in a pure form. You will not have any problems with any one.

My own words. Tough question, because I immediately wanted to head for the rhetoric.

My personal conviction that I have been given a gift is what lead me to become Christian. I see it as Jesus and God worked together to make this gift applicable to everybody. They had to send Jesus to Hell for 3 days so that after I did the wretched things I would eventually do 2 millenia later, my sould could go to heaven. I know that this gift will continue to exist whether or not I choose to accept it. It is that dedication, that Jesus would die and spend that time in hell for all my sins, just so he could give me the OPTION of accepting it, that lead me to believe that Christianity was for me.

What made me a Christian?

Living my life without God, was meaningless and unhappy, no substance! Although, at the time before I changed my life, I was making wonderful money w/ a good job, my daughter was happy, had a lot of friends, making good grades in school, I had a great relationship of 2 years (although wasn't right according to God's word), nice apartment, fully furnished finally............. BUT I WAS SO UNHAPPY!! SERIOUSLY!!

In my heart, I knew that life is more than this.... I knew that I need God to help me draw closer to him... Some kind of way... any kind of way... I KNEW I NEEDED HIM. So, what I did? Started studying the Bible and changed my life ACCORDING TO GOD'S WILL. NOT MINE!!! I ended the relationship for the sake of not only my life, but my daughter's. I had to get rid of my SELFISH ATTITUDE and put on a new personality of God's Will.

Being saved by the Grace of God makes me a Christian. I became a new person. Jesus changed my life. I have no desire for sin, or being around it. I want to live my life pleasing to the Lord, and tell others how to be saved. I love to go to church, and pray, and read my Bible. I want to be a witness for Him. I seek God for the will of my life, and I put my Faith, and Trust in Him.

Reading my bible, understanding, and accepting that my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ died for human race. Shed his precious blood on Calvary's cross for all. What make me a christian? Love one another, be kind, follow the principles of God. Believe in his word. Love the Lord with all my heart, pray and giving thanks. Paying my tithes, repent and buried with him through baptism. What make me a christian is what no human being can give, wash my entire sins away and throwing it in the deepest part of the sea, remembering them no more.
