Well I'm A flight attendant, and before boarding, I would ask ask to meet the front in crew the captain and first officer and flight attendants, so they can make her feel secure, and welcome, and maybe even a little helper. Our airline gives out wings to 1st time flyer's, along with a 1st time flyer certificate and a care package. Maybe try and let her sit by the window, so she can see out. I hope this helps and have a safe flight :)

#1 Reallt talk up the airplane if you can find one buy a matchbox plane like the one you will be flying on for her.
#2 Get her her very own carry on that she can put some special toys in so she will have something special on the plane to play with.
#3 Get a portable DVD player and let her watch her own movies
#4 Gummy bears for take off and landing for her ears
#5 Childrens benedryl (as per his dr) in case she starts to get freaked out...do a dry run first since it could make her excited rather than sleepy.
#6 explain going through security this is what scared my son the most...he was 2 when we flew!
Hope this helps!

I just came back from a trip, with my 4 & 7yr old. I carried a gameboy with us, which kept her busy here and there. Coloring books, small toys.I also would let her know what was going to happen before it did, such as when the plane is being pushed reversed to be put in positon (ok, here we go) then when it runs down the runway to prepare for takeoff (are u ready? here we go! it's going to go up right now, you can hold my hand if you want) you may have to hold/hug her and say it's ok. I made some noise close to the 4yr's ear to cover noise. Don't forget to carry juice or gum, because their ears get plugged up alot. After 1 hr. she slept through the rest of the flight.

My kids started flying when they were 8 weeks old. the toddler loves it, eveytime we saw a plane leading up to our flight id tell her thats like the plane we will fly on. let her take a special bag of things like a color book and some crayons and a book and a drink and a sandwhich. and if she has anything like barbies or my little ponies or a baby doll let her take one too so her toy can ride on the plane too. that way she can focus on things in the plane. my daughter loves looking out the window at the clouds, cos we r flying just like birds. she was only 2 on the last flight. and it was my boys first flight and he was six months. the only thing i suggest is if u have a sippy cup she can suck on when u take off and land so her ears dont pop with the pressureising of the cabin. other then that shell probably love it. if any of the noises scare her just explain them to her, like thats the wheels going in thats the enigne starting up. shell probably be busy with her books anyway. good luck.

Hey don't worry much, when the baby on a plane, you use a towel cover baby ears and a bit around ayes,to make baby felling safe and to reduce noise sound from plane, then baby can sleep well and safe, about pressure, body of baby will auto adjustment, your job is just clam down baby as much as you can let baby full of sleep, this trick is really work!!

3 years old is a terrific age to take a first flight. they are smart enough to realize that its a big deal, and will think th bumps of turbulence are fun. bring along a few books about airplanes or airports, and her favourite toys, and make sure she has juice and gum, so she doen't get earaches. have fun, she will love looking way down at the ground.

i would try to stay very relaxed yourself. if you are freaked out or stressed then she will pick up on it. just be excited and happy and bring some new toys and books to distract her. also make sure you have some old favorite comforting toys too.
when i fly with my son we also bring a portable dvd player or a computer to play dvds on. the trip goes much faster if you are watching the blues clues movie or something like that.

Remember you can walk around the plane. Show her the tiniest bathroom ever! Build it up to be alot of fun! Hopefully you are on a flight with a tv in the front of your seat. She'll be fine. Just don't make her nervous.

Make sure she doesnt sit near the window.. I went in an airplane when I was 4, I wasnt afraid..I sat by the window in fact..But I dont know if your sister would like that..If shes scared just tell her, its like driving in a car.. I doubt she will notice anything if she doesnt sit by the window

I have a 2.5 yr old. she's flown 8 times starting at 9 mos. kids aren't really scared unless they see a reason to be (usually from an adult) just make it seem really cool and fun.
