Seven states have no state income tax: Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington and Wyoming. Two others, New Hampshire and Tennessee, tax only dividend and interest income.
No Sales Tax:
ALASKA, DELAWARE, MONTANA, NEW HAMPSHIRE, OREGON
Some state tax food, but allow an (income) tax credit to compensate poor households. They are:HI, ID, KS, OK, SD, and WY.

Alaska and Texas don't have State Income Tax, a couple other States don't either (not sure which).
But yeah it is true that the State of Alaska actually pays ya to live there.

There are a few states that don't charge sales tax. Oregon is one that I know of for sure. My ex-fiance lives there & showed me a receipt after a visit to see his mom while he lived with me. I'm not sure about others.
Alaska DOES pay you to live there. It's called a stipend & it's paid monthly.
