I guess the first part to do is to discover and ask God for him to reveal his purpose for you. I am at the begging of my journey so I am still seeking my calling!

Remember, every Christian is called to holiness, not just priests. In that sense, we are all called to be worthy of either the holy celibate life or the holy married life. Also remember that though we wish to hold priests to a high standard, they are still human and suffer from the effects of original sin. If you choose the celibate life and act sinfully, be sure to repent, and you will be worthy due to the grace you receive. It is the same if you choose the married life.

Each day I go to Mass, read a chapter in the Bible, and pray the rosary. After that, I ask God what He wants me to do that day. He repays my prayers with daily answers. Each day, if I do his will for that day, He is happy with me. We can become worthy of our calling on a daily basis in this way.

We will never be worthy but he who died for us is and always will be. All you can do is serve him with all of your heart, soul and being. Our purpose for being here is to serve, praise and glorify God in all we do. Once you accept that and seek a close personal relationship (not religion) with God you will find a great peace and comfort and yes joy in the life you live for God.

In one of my few times at a Catholics Church on a Sunday, the Deacon or Priest's sermon was on subject of Faith, and what faith is all about. After he talked for five minutes, he stopped and looked out over the gathering of people and made this statement, "Having real faith, figuratively speaking, is like stepping out beyond the edge of a Cliff, trusting that it will, somehow, all work out."

I honor his words by saying to myself at moment when faith is all you have, "somehow it all works out."

The child who died today on a crashing airplane, will be OK in someway beyond my comprehension, and also beyond my ability to change. And that I am that baby and that baby is me.

And it works out, somehow. But we must for a moment mark the passing and celebrate the birth of child, ideas, principles and truth. And then I step out, again.
