I have had a Cosmetologist License in 5 or more States. No special prerequisites are needed. Just locate local schools of Cosmetology in your area. Interview them and decide which academy you would like to go to. When I started out, I didn't even know how to even curl my own hair let alone anyone Else's. I was shy, and afraid I'd be awful!
Well, since 1973, I had managed to fall in love with it. And have worked with many, many, rock stars, and some movie stars. Also, I did the Monday Make-Make Over on Television, with a Local daughter station of CBS,or ABC. Anyway, I wouldn't have cared if I just stayed in one salon. It is very satisfying to make someone feel great about themselves. I was one of the Best! Then a drunk driver ran into me, and, I still love doing Hair when ever I can!! I wish you luck!

You will need to pass a major test and be licensed by your state, to pass the test you will want to sign up for Cosmetology classes. There are Beauty schools but you probably can also take the classes at your local commmunity college.
