Get a prescription for Nizoral, it works wonders and don't wash your hair too much. Oh yeah, the Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo is very good. I used to have dandruff but after using these products it went away.

Dandruff is a real medical problem, and you should see your dermatologist about that.

However, flakes from your dry scalp is more commonly known as "dandruff." You can relieve the problem by buying specialized shampoos. Head and Shoulders doesn't really work, but you can try something like Selson Blue (spelling?). Also, don't wash your hair too often; the recommended is every other day. Washing your hair too much strips it of it's natural oils and in turn dries out your scalp.

I know the feeling. I have psorisis on my scalp. And I have tried every type of polytar shampoo even perscribtion ones. This might sound crazy but it's the only thing that's worked for me - try mixing a 1/4 cup of mouthwash with 3/4 cup of water (give or take for long or short hair) then pour it all over your scalp, let it sit for at least 10 minutes then rinse it out with water. Do not wash! Go to bed and wash it normally the next day. I do it 1-2 times a week depending on how bad it is. If you have open sores on your scalp from scratching or anything it might burn just a little the first time.
Good Luck : )

Yes, dandruff shampoo works. It may take several days of washing it once per day, but it works! Selsun Blue is one. Don't give up. And then wash your hair often. Once every 2 or 3 days at a minimum!
