my dog does that also...it's kinda nerve-wracking when they are afraid...just let it inside the house...

Hmm...sounds like ours, an Airedale. If you're in the U.S., I bet the 4th of July was just as fun as it was here, huh? This dog is afraid of everything from firecracker popping to bubble wrap. The farthest he can get from firecracker or storm noise is in a far corner of the basement trying to dig a hole in the concrete floor...
So sadly, for some I guess this is normal.

mine did this too. she actually got into the bathtub once and tried to climb up the tiles backwards. i think it's because she was left outdoors a lot with the home she had before us. she would also try to get herself under my bed.
my akita mix also hated lightening. he'd stand in a corner, with his face facing the corner, and just breathe really really fast, he was left tied to a fence for about a week before someone took him to the shelter, so i think the loud noises were a scary reminder of that.

well when she was a puppy she prob heard a loud noise or someone hurt her in some way and it made a loud noise and she remembers it. I have a white german shepherd as well and i looked up on the net that they remember everything that happens to them.

There are some homeopathic remedies available in your pet store that might work out for you. Try to remain calm and speak soothingly to the dog when this happens, sometimes it gets better with time

This is actually a problem with lots of dogs, i have read a article, but is the dog left outside? inside? in a kennel? but i would seek online advice from a more reliable source, as i do know there is treatment, as simple as letting the dog sleep next to you... good luck

Let the bloody dog in the house!! God, I can't stand people with backyard dogs...you are abusing your dog. She is afraid and you do nothing to make her feel better, how cruel!

Let her in and show lots of affection. She is scared and needs reassurance.
