When I was living in Pittsburgh 8 years ago, a weird religious program appeared on a public access chanel about Yahweh Ben Yahweh. In Hebrew it translates to "God of Gods." But apparently the man billed as Yahweh Ben Yahweh was "wrongfully" thrown in prison for being a cocaine or crack dealer. Heck, they even had a little segment for the kids with illustration cards showing his persecution. The cards looked like the drawings made by Homey the Clown in "In Living Color" when he was booted by The Man when he was a valet at Chez Whities'. Fortunantly, I had a tape handy to record this show and brought it home with me to show all my friends this bizzare religion I stumbled upon. Any thoughts?

Oh I've heard of him. Proclaims himself to be the 'black Jesus'. He wasn't 'wrongfully' convicted of anything, he did it.

Yahweh ben Yahweh born and legally named Hulon Mitchell, Jr. (born 1935-10-27) is the leader of the Nation of Yahweh.

As Yahweh ben Yahweh meaning "the LORD Son of the LORD," Yahweh being a proper name for God in the Hebrew Bible (Exodus 3:16) - He emphasized a mixture of racial supremacy and violent separatism. God was black and blacks would become powerful through him. He also emphasized whites as infidels and oppressors. Lastly he increasingly emphasized loyalty to him. He ultimately cultivated a loyalty extreme enough that members apparently pledged to kill his enemies.

His group took over a series of buildings in Miami. These buildings allowed for the level of black separatism he encouraged. He became the living messianic ruler in this culture. As ruler he is said to have been absolute and theocratic. Those who dissented could face beatings or, allegedly, death.

Just a brief comment. The translation of "Yahweh Ben Yahweh" isn't quite "god of gods". In Hebrew, "Yahweh" is God's name. Just as in Christianity, Jesus, is God's name. The word "Ben", means "son of". So in a sense it means "God Son of God"... If you insert the word "god" in, as a pronoun for the name...
"god son of god", sounds like some sort of new version of Jews for Jesus, or Messianic Judaism... Where they claim to have something to do with Judaism (hence the use of Hebrew), and yet also claim that God is the Son of God...?!@?!?!@#!? (Like Jesus?)
Maybe it's just me, but I don't understand how any being (supernatural or not) can create itself... but then, maybe that's why I don't believe Jesus is the son of God, and yet also IS God...
