Not much. Just write to the county they were born in OR to the hospital where they were born. They'll tell you what they need, it usually consists of: Name, birthdate, mailing address, and possibly a SSN.

basic birth information, the doctor who deliverd the baby, the date, weight, length, number of siblings, parent(s) information. I filled out a 4 page birth certificate application form just to have it ruined before I could take it in. Here they have an online form that had a lot less questions and had a guarentee of delivery in 15 business days, less for emergency travel. Check your state or provincial government website it should say there.

go to the county clerk's office & ask for a copy, no documentation is needed, birth records are public infornaton available to all who ask for it
